Bespoke Audi A2 Armrest Bracket and Trim (A6 C5) Group Order

I visited Paul @depronman to collect my bracket and 3d plastics finished with plasticoat. Really impressive and robust bracket and the plastics are an absolutely brilliant design and look and feel just like soul black. I'm looking forward to installing them in my car.

And now I know what soul black will look like with platinum half leather / alcantara sports - thanks!

I may dye the top platinum to match if I can.
I have been in two minds whether to leather die the top. I was very successful in improving the seats but Platinum over soul black could be a problem when it wears!
I would be interested to see your Platinum arm cover contrasting with the soul black of the rest of the armrest.

Morning all,

As the initial run of the Bespoke A2 Armrest draws to an end I’m considering having this thread closed in the next few days, I’ll allow a short period for questions and comments on what’s already been sold. This is the same procedure I followed on the Footrest Group Order.

A separate thread will be started for the second run once our findings have been revised and considered. It will of course refer back to this thread but this will be locked before next weekend.

I really wanted this to be available to you all at the very best price possible so a little more work in the background is required to understand where costs can be trimmed without being detriment to the final finish.

Kind regards,

Tom

Not overly happy with my plastics, the bracket is spot on and feels very robust but the plastics don't come together at all. Don't no if I've been sent the test kit by mistake but you can see from the pics nothing is in line, real shame as the cost was not worth the result for me.

I'm in no way trying to slate Paul but when you pay a decent amount you expect a reasonable quality.

Afternoon Mark,

Yes that looks quite horrible and not sure what’s happened there. Have you already been in touch with Paul to discuss the outcome of your purchase.

Kind regards,

Tom

No I haven't, it is what it is and I will make alterations the best I can, just such a shame fore all the hard work put into it.

Mark,

I think you need to open up dialogue with Paul as the look is absolutely unacceptable and not what it’s meant to look like.

Paul have supplied these to other members and this is the first complaint as far as I know.

It might be an easy thing that Paul can rectify for you, you should not have your interior spoilt like that and have to pay £35 for it.

I’m sure he will be along soon enough to assist.

Kind regards,

Tom

Ok Tom, thanks for the advice.

No idea why it would be out like that. I have obviously only fitted my own bracket and the fit was nothing like your is
The brackets are a welded assy but all clipped together with almost no play in them but looking at the photos I would say that the bracket need packing up slightly on the drivers side and also undo the mounting to the handbrake nut and pull the arm rest backwards a little then re tighten the nut
This should alight the armrest to where it needs to be to allow the plastic trim to fit in place correctly

All the 3D printed parts will be within ½mm of each other and on my own the fit is nothing like this far out. Some mis alignment coverup was built into the plastics design in terms of the top part and the middle section having the overlap, I was aware that it would be needed but not to this degree

If you can’t get it to fit correctly after adjusting the brackets position then I will without question refund you for either all of it or the plastics part of it

What is the whitish looking stuff on the pictures ? Looking at it again it doesn’t look like the top section is inserted into the armrest properly

Cheers. Paul

Trust me Paul I did try moving it back but it doesn't change anything, the parts are out at the top and the bottom, the bracket doesn't fit into the largest centre piece of plastic so that is also an issue. Believe me I wanted this to work, slight gaps ect I can deal with but this is simply a mess, I feel for you as I'm sure it's a disappointment but I feel your frustration.
I'm going to have to remove it as it doesn't look pretty at all.
I will send you my bank details for the refund, I paid £35 to you for the plastic as @A2Steve gifted me his bracket and that works just fine.

Regards, Mark.

I’ll process the plastics refund tonight when my wife gets in
Please return the plastics to me so I can investigate further
I will pm you my address

Cheers. Paul

Of course I'll return the plastics, they will hopefully give you an insight into where things went wrong.

That looks fantastic - well done to all involved in the making of these!

@depronman

To confirm:

assuming this isn't going into the far future (in which case I'll DIY from scratch using this thread as an inspiration) I'd like to confirm:

Welded and painted bracket £35
Unpainted/ ex-printer plastic trim(s) £35
Delivery £7

Many thanks, Barry

To be clear @depronman Paul has fully refunded me and when I return the plastics to him he intends to investigate the issue fully, this could be a simply one off issue so I do hope I've not put anyone off, I've only been honest about the issues I have had and I am speaking for myself only.
