Bespoke Audi A2 Armrest Bracket and Trim (A6 C5) Group Order

It was only a suggestion. My interior is platinum grey leather so I did consider this one, but my offer was declined. In the end, I settled for the black one as it matches the rest of the interior, and it is from a UK seller so avoiding the extortionate shipping and customs charges for items imported from Germany. Maybe the black leather lid can be replaced or retrimmed to platinum grey in the future but the housing will still match the soul black elsewhere in the interior. I also read that @audifan suggested spraying the housing too.

Oh I appreciate the suggestion - thank you.

I think I will go the same way as you and get the top cover retrimmed in platinum, my car has soul black interior trim other than the seats also so this should match nicely.

@Crgwal What would you love? The arm rest is very nearly available for the "winners" of the first group order that uses the more available, cheaper and far better Audi A6C5 armrest.

I must say, the quality of the A6 C5 armrest is really good.

One more thing, some arm rests seem to be offered complete with the bracket by which you’d bolt them into an A6 and some are offered without this - and other seem to exclude the metal “tower” or stalk that this bracket attaches to as well.

@2work Tom could you clarify exactly what we need to ensure the armrest comes with in this regard? I take it the bracket is replaced in our application by what Paul is making?

I can answer that the part we are using from the A6C5 armrest is the upper part including all the plastics, the lid and the "stalk" that is part of the armrest. What is not being used and indeed not necessary to buy is the lower "foot" that bolts the rest into the A6 as this part is being replaced by our custom built one.

This part NOT required..

Thanks - this is just what we need to know.

Evening all,

Apologies for not responding sooner, another busy day.

Thank you Graham @audifan for stepping in to assist.

Quick update on the armrests. Paul @depronman has received the bracket items from Cut-Tec and has started to weld them together:

I know the above picture only shows 7 but I can confirm that all 27 have been received. Reassuringly they are much stronger and sturdier than their aluminium and plywood predecessors.

The next stage is to refine the trim files from @DuncanA2 to cover the adapted A6 bracket. Progress on this is taking a back seat for a week whilst more Door Check Straps, Wiper Arms and OSS Motor Mounts are finished off.

That’s all for now but I’ll keep you updated as and when I hear from Paul.

Really quite excited to have one of these fitted in the near future.

Kind regards,

Tom

I’ve ordered a roll of mig wire as the roll on the welder as gone rusty and I can’t remember the last time i used it, should arrive for the weekend ish

Jackpot: I've just paid £35 for a nice condition armrest with in Soul Black including delivery - The part number is 4BO864207C6PS, with "STAUFACH SOUL" (storage compartment, soul black) written on the sticker. I'm not sure if the top is leather or vinyl, as some I've seen actually have "LEDER" written on the sticker too.

Either way - This will be perfect for Audrey and I can always look to recolour (or recover) the top in platinum / alcantara to match the seats that are destined to go in with it should I wish.

It seems that all the commercial breakers on eBay want silly money for a poor condition part, so I was lucky enough to find one on the whole of FB marketplace UK that was in much better condition than anything I'd seen at twice the price. Also a lot of the armrests out there have the telphone option, which I'm assuming would be difficult to remove without leaving holes etc. (although a conversion to charge your phone with it safely locked away while you control incoming calls via a MFSW / bluetooth etc. would be interesting - another variation on a theme eh Tom @2work ?).

Audrey's upgrade list is getting longer - and you Tom are behind all of it: The footrest, the bluetooth / auto light switch and now this!

Screenshot from AliExpress. Be m8ndful of delivery dates and options, but I have found their suppliers pretty reliable.

Afternoon David,

Great find on the armrest by the way. There are deals out there but you need to hunt for them.

The armrest is a perfect choice to place an OEM Wireless Charging Module, this was my initial thoughts for location but I wasn’t patient enough and went shreds and attacked the Twist Handbrake Tray.

Whilst you’re there adding a loom to the armrest there are many more options/considerations to be decided:

1. Additional 12v socket internally?
2. Additional 12v socket externally for rear passenger devices?
3. USB charger for other items (Vaping paraphernalia or Tablets etcetera)?
4. Internal light?

Obviously not all of the above (without good knowledge of the A2s electrics) as I’m not sure the associated fuse would be able to handle the current draw if all used at the same time.

Apologies for adding to your shopping list and I cannot promise that I don’t have other things up my sleeve Sir.

Kind regards,

Tom

My armrest arrived to day and after a clean up I’m certain it’ll be ideal! I like the idea of adding a wireless charger ??

Evening Mark,

Soon as Paul @depronman has finalised the trim items and worked out the complete price, I will ensure they’re published on this thread. From there I’ll simply send out individual PMs (just like the footrest order) to everyone on the list to obtain delivery addresses and share payment details.

Right now the full up price isn’t known, it’s not being discussed as Paul is yet to adapt the A1 trim files to suit the A6 armrest.

Shouldn’t be too long though.

Please hold out a little longer.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Anymore places for this?

Morning Edward,

Long time no speak and very conscious that I owe you a visit Sir.

Unfortunately there is no further room on this initial Group Order but can certainly add you to the reserve list; the reserve list will of course become the basis of the second list which will happen in time.

There are no updates on this venture for now as Paul is still working away with all the other wonderful things that he provides but the trim items to hide the bracket are at the forefront of our minds.

Kind regards,

Tom
