Best A2?

I would say the spec'd out 3L model, it can get upwords 100mpg has a 1.2tdi but with the weight reduction still feels like the 1.4tdi. Has all the options of the luxury 1.4tdi (was it the se?) having power steering, power windows, climate control, etc. The only drawback is no open sky option (unless you do some cutting like one forum member has done!), no leather (unless aftermarket) and no sport seats, but otherwise it's a beauty!

I have a 1.6 FSi SE with a few bits and pieces (Open Sky, 6 disc symphony, heated mirrors, bench seat, Skipton Cruise ....) wanted DIS but when you see a car you really like sometimes you compromise.
Having spent some time on here looking at what the guys here have done / can do I think if buying again I would now look at 1.4 Tdi with Open Sky, would definately want DIS, let Mike sort cruise (do not pay for this from Audi), easy to sort elec mirrors, would have Nav Plus and let the guys at Stealth make it out perform my FSi.
Nothing against what I have but you always seem to like the look of somebody elses play thing

I reckon I have the best spec in the Republic of Ireland, given that it is a UK Import!
I've got a 1.4TDi SE 75 with a mod chip, Open Sky, Symphony 2, DIS, Factory Cruise, Heated Sports Seats, Winter Pack, Climate Control, Load Restraint System.
The previous owner imported it from the UK when he moved to West Cork. He went over the options list with me and I think that he more or less ticked every option in the book except leather and rear bench. I might have liked leather but not rear bench. He said the dealer did not tell him about BOSE at the time of ordering and he wasn't too happy about that.
I always take a good look at any A2 I see in Ireland. I also look at www.carzone.ie at used sales. It is extremely rare to see Open Sky. Most seem to be 1.4 petrol base models with plastic wheeltrims and a steel roof.
Haven't seen anything like mine yet.
Of course it doesn't hold a candle to the Tank.

I imagine as the car becomes increasingly rare the options will have less value and the number of models available on the road will be important. if you have 1000's of Sport models and only 100's of SE 1.6 FSI, regardless of the options on the sport it will be the very few 1.6 FSI that will be desirable keeping the price high. Will this then be classed as the best model because of its rarity?

Pissing aside I meant the best as in with teh best features from the factory, the missus started off saying I couldn't do anything to this one but already got her sold on wind deflectors, handbrake tray thing, rear cupholder console thing, cruise control and that lots in the first month of owning it...

Hi if you look in the forum section under brochures you will see the specification for all Audi A2 models with factory spec and options list. from here you can strip the best components from a donor car.

Mine is all factory fitted. I don't have the skills of Mike or his undoubted patience to be bothered with all the effort he's put into the Tank. Much admired and respected though for doing it.
Custom Silver lilac paint (it's a bit like Akoya silver but not exactly same)
Open Sky
Headlamp washers
Red leather
sport seats -heated and electric
rear bench
rear electric windows
ISO Fix
Bose
6 cd -boot mounted
full DIS
vanity mirror lights
Sat Nav + and TV (RNS-D)
Don't have front fogs, xenon lights, park distance, ipod connector or cruise. Should go to see Mike for the latter. Still have original wheels but they are in need of some restoration.
I bought the car second hand from Smith Knight and Faye, Stockport with 6000 miles and 11 months old. It had been Audi's show car on the NEC motor show stand, maybe the first 1,6fsi in the country, I think. Total new list price at the time was only a few £'s short of £25K! I paid a bit less than that though!
Apart from the usual (coil packs, arb etc.) it's fine and runs well. And everything works!
In fact I'm just off to Manchester and Liverpool in it later this morning. Keep my eyes peeled for other A2's.
