I have had a search on the forum and not seen an answer that's recent.
It's been a LONG time since I thought about upgrading car speakers... probably since my 1.2 Clio with 2 12" Subs and multiple hideous surface mounted speakers...
As a man of a certain vintage I still like to appreciate loud music on journeys but also has to have a good sound to it. Previously in my search I've seen that upgrade kits are available for speakers and adapter rings to allow for 16.5 shallow depth speakers to be swapped out in the doors. Is there anyone in the group that knows about speakers and what are decent 16.5cm components to go for?
The Focal kit looks to be a decent option with separate tweeters etc, I think they were a decent sounding driver from what I remembered. The other options are Hertz DSK's or Alpine's which I've got in my Freelander2.
just wondering what thoughts are as I will be adding aftermarket double Din Apline head unit. I have an active undersea Subwoofer and also a 4 channel 444W amp should it be advised to power the speakers separately rather than the head unit. but I think the head unit normally gives decent enough power.
Cheers!
