Bi-xenon projectors failed my MOT

Well I will remove and pack away my illegal retrofit.

What I have is below in the picture, if its of any use to anyone perhaps in another country drop me a message...

Hopfully anyone reading this will not make the mistake I made.

Best,
C

Do you have them complete in the housing?

This is true?

I'm confused so no breaks were checked on my car since they didn't ask to remove my wheels?

The breaks are checked on the rollers but only an visual inspection from behind the wheels and through the gaps in the wheels at the front can be made to assess the condition of the discs and amount of material on the pads
This is often difficult and leads to the ‘pass and advise’ statement meaning they pass the mot test but you get an advise that they need looking at etc

I wish my ‘smart phone’ was as smart as it’s name suggests Predictive text as a lot to answer for. Plus fat fingers and touch screens

My last 2 MOTs the tester has removed the bonnet without asking. I made a point of telling them both times they weren't allowed to do so, with the first tester stating that they "would not have taken the car for MOT test" without the ability to remove the bonnet.

I've yet to find a tester i can trust round here tbh - most of my cars up until the last 3 years didn't need MOT'd so I've not built up that level of relationship. Last 2 years I've found testers to be a tad ignorant of the actual rules, with a combination of arrogance when challenged which I guess comes from any garage where their competence is challenged.

It’s simple. Tell them when you book the test that the bonnet is a removable piece not hinged and as such will mot be removed for the test
It is then their choice of doing the test or turning down the work
There are plenty of mot station that will do a test to the rules in particular the council run test stations are normally very good and as they don’t do repairs tend to be a rather less biased test result

What is the concern with bonnet removal, is it potential damage by the uninitiated?
Mac.
In a word Yes!
a) when they put it on the hard ground
b) when it then gets knocked / or something falls on it
c) when they put it back single handed and the protruding lugs under the bonnet hit the wing and marks the paint on the wing by the the rain gutter.
d) when they leave their grubby hand all over it and
e) when the bonnet is off and they lean over the wing and the buttons on their greasy overalls scratch the wings.

I understand.
My MoT is carried out by the same VAG Indie who services it, (and has an A2 as a courtesy car).
Luckily I don't have any doubt about his ability to remove the bonnet.
Personally, I'd prefer the tester remove the bonnet, because if there's anything wrong, that can only be seen with the bonnet off, I want to know about it.
So, just, as others have said, talk to your tester, before the test, explain your concern, after all, you're his paying customer. If there's a problem, you can walk away.
Mac.

Each to their own but I'd rather a tester looks under the bonnet to check the condition of fuel lines, brake lines, (in some cases) condition of fuel lines to a Webasto.....in fact, I'd insist on it

Hi,

So I just put my car into Halfords for its MOT.

It failed on the bi-xenon lights I had fitted to it. (Not legal)

I'm confused since when was this a thing?

Thanks in advance,
Craig
Hi, I’ve only just seen this thread - but if I had back in March when you first posted. I would have told you to stop, immediately withdraw the car from Halfords and take it somewhere else! I literally got to the end of the first line and thought “that sounds like trouble”!

EDIT: From my post above I see I was more focused on grammar than the content of the original post!
