Bonnet Across Britain - the Journey

Can I just say a very big thankyou to Hilary (Yorkshirehill) and Ian for their kind welcome and Bacon Butties this morning. It was great to have a mini get together for a very worthy cause. The bonnet was duly signed and I,m sure Conrad will be posting some photo,s soon. Its a fantastic idea and I would encourage all members to become involved and help it on its way around the country.

Echoing what Dave has just said I would also like to thank Hilary and Ian for their kind hospitality this morning (the bacon buttie was superb!). It was great to have a natter with everybody and special big thanks to Hilary for amusing Oscar in the garden - you've made a new mate there! :)

Really enjoyed 'Bonnets, Bacon & Banter' this morning. Thank you to everyone for making this a fun social and for the generous contributions to our fund-raiser in support of the Air Ambulances.

The bonnet will be here for a couple more weeks before setting off on the next leg of the journey north. If anyone would like to drop in to sign it and contribute to the charity, send me a PM.

I am so pleased with this, it's put a smile on my face. This is just what 'bonnet across Britain' is all about. A chance to meet up with A2 enthusiasts in your area as the bonnet is passed around the country. Doesn't even have to be a mini social, it just takes two as a handover.

I've somehow been completely dozy and not really noticed this. What a fab idea. I'll donate and am also definitely up for a go for the eastern side of the country.
As I've discovered that Mabel is far happier on the open road than pootling around Norwich, I'm also happy to take a decent length trip to pass it on.
 
All being well the bonnet will be uplifted in Yorkshire on the weekend of 12th November and will make its way north to Scotland.

If any of our Scottish community fancy a mini social shortly after this date to sign the bonnet, pledge a donation if you wish and take the bonnet on its onward journey please drop me a PM and copy in Yorkshirehill our organiser so Hilary cam keep track of things.

I'll add a donation and guess for the total mileage once I pick up the bonnet.
 
The bonnet now has a box to travel in.

We made a box from corrugated plastic which has a foldover flap at the top - so not really a box but more of a 'bonvelope' :)

The bonnet is still in Leeds but we have a route change to the next part of the journey…

Special Edition will be driving it from Wakefield to the Birmingham Social on Saturday 26 November

Now we need the next volunteer… please?

If you’re going to the social, it would be fantastic if you could take it on to your next chosen destination. Doesn’t need to be going in a set direction. Just take it home with you and find the next volunteer through the thread. Organise a hand-over when it's convenient to you, within a week or two would be great.

I am happy to help where I can to put people in contact with other willing volunteers. Plans are still in place for the bonnet to head to Scotland but not just yet.

Thank you to everyone who has already expressed interest in participating. And a big thank you to all who have already contributed money on our fund-raising page in support of the Air Ambulances.
