Bonnet Across Britain - the Journey

Murdo .
I am up for hooking it onto my A2 when you get it to West Central Scotland and contributing to Charity,

Eamonn.

That's great Eamonn. As per Hilarys post my planned trip to Yorkshire had to be postponed so the bonnet is moving onto the Midlands however we will get it to Scotland before next October !!

I regularly travel from Banbury to the Isle of Wight, so can offer to take the bonnet 'overseas' at some point, if it's interested. :D

Not sure whether there are any other folks on the IW on the forum?

Hi

I think that is the first 'island' suggestion for the bonnet's trip around the British Isles. Would be great to get it across the Solent. Thank you!

We can work on this plan and it might take a bit of time to find another member on IoW as it would be a shame for you to transport it there and back! I've had some enquiries from volunteers in the Southampton area and South West so it will definitely be heading there at some point.

Planning a trip to the Western Isles / Outer Hebrides next October School Break, weather permitting a trip also to St Kilda, would make a nice pic if it made it there, the Bonnet only not the car, a few nautical miles, do they count?

Yes please!

What a fantastic finale before it returns for its finish at ADI

Hope we can make it happen!

PM me when it's in the region and let's make it happen :)

I'm looking forward to having the bonnet on. I wonder if we could try to get a bit of publicity for it? Norfolk it is a bit slow for news so I'm sure I could probably get something in the local paper if people thought it would be a good idea.

Once I've picked the bonnet up at the end of the month, it is possible that I may need to take a trip to Cardiff at some point before Christmas so I could see if there were any volunteers for the next owner along the way :)

Love it! Very swish Hilary, well done.

Very swish indeed but a small design fault was discovered.

The sleeve fits perfectly. The bonnet fits perfectly inside the bonvelope. So far, so good...

Unfortunately the bonvelope does not fit inside the external packaging in which it is to be transported. As that external packaging is made of aluminium, it's a lot harder to alter than the bonvelope :)

So we now present the Mark II Bonvelope, tailored to fit more accurately.

However as it's raining, we've yet to test if the Mark II version has the same problem with the external packaging as the Mark I

Hi everyone,

So, I'm trying to think of how to pass the Bonnet on to its next owner. I'm off to see Jigsaw tonight so will get a signature from him. I am also trying to get a bit of Norfolk publicity.

But in terms of passing it on, I do have the weekend before Christmas completely free and was thinking of a mini 'I'm dreaming of an A2 Christmas' meet somewhere, where I would bring homemade sausage rolls, plus gluten free goats cheese and sundried tomato rolls, plus some mince pies and strawberry santas (if you haven't made these before, they are so cute for Christmas and dead easy to do). There would be a small donation for a bite to eat with the proceeds going towards the charity.

I'm more than happy to take a bit of a drive and there does seem to have been quite a few requests for it to start to move southwards. So, does anyone fancy a mini meet/bonnet handover somewhere either on the way from Norwich to London or around London on either Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th December?

I am aware that other people's Christmas preparations may be a little less sedate than mine so I am happy to keep hold of it until early in the new year if everyone is busy.

Love and hugs, Teresa
