bonnet problem

looked out the window today and saw the service flap was down. mmm odd, tried to close it but it wouldn't close. took off the bonnet, went to put it back on again and it would not go back on.
It looks like something hit the bonnet and has bent the front catch preventing the bonnet from sliding into place.

Can anyone post a pic of how it should look so I can shape mine to suit?

cheers

The bonnet pull tab and the section it attaches to on the service flap are fully adjustable so no 2 cars will be the same. You can adjust the catch on the car by undoing the 2 small torx screws or on the flap with a cross head screwdriver.

Hi Steve,
The problem is the bonnet is not closing properly, until today it just slid right on and very little effort was required to turn the two attaching screw thingys (very technical)
On the bonnet there is a metal catch at the front dead centre. It seams as if this is fouling and stopping the bonnet from fully sliding back sitting properly.

As it is just now it is very difficult to turn the lock screws and it sits about a cm too high so the service catch misses.

I think the bonnet hook is out (maybe when it was getting the engine mount fixed... thanks for the advice on that guys)

On the underside of the bonnet in the centre at the front there’s a 3cm wide metal hook. I’ve seen this get bent which prevents the bonnet sliding backwards fully and therefore the service hatch doesn’t latch in place. (Edit: I think this is what you are referring to)

I fixed it by just gently bending the hook until it allows the bonnet to slide on fully. You should be able to see the slot that it locates into in when the bonnet is fully off just above the dipstick

Cheers, sounds like a plan, would love to know what happened to it, me thinking the mechanic persuaded the bonnet into place at the last visit then I think somebody bumped it last night and took it over the edge.

Another job for the weekend

thanks guys

Probably someone tried to open it conventionally by just lifting it, instead of sliding it forward then lifting it off.

I have attempted to take some pictures of this hook piece and the approximate angle that it should be at in order to locate into the support above the dipstick
