Bootlid - getting carpetted panel off to access boot microswitch

Hi - my battery is fine but it seems the bootlid microswitch may have packed up.

How do i get to the back of it - the only visable fixings I can see on the bootlid are bumpstops either side.

I could start prising away but that can end badly!

any ideas? cheers

I'm afraid that prising away is the only way. Start near one of the bottom corners and tug, working up one side and then repeating on the other side before pulling out at the top. There are quite a number of plastic clips attached to the board which fit into cut outs in the metal. It can be done without breaking any clips but, if any do break, I'm sure one of the parts suppliers will be able to supply replacements. Take care not to break (and take note of the position of) the emergency release cable which you'll have to unclip.

The boot trim is simply held on by a lot of clips that grip like a hungry Rottweiler hanging on to a bone. A LOT of force needed, suggest you start at the bottom left hand pull moulding, pull like billy-o (no idea how that phrase got in there!) to ease out a bit and then pry taking care not to mark/damage.

I tugged, prised and I now have 2 intact clips left as the plastic mountings holding the clips fell apart on all the rest. Quality
