Brake calliper torque

Hi folks, had a good look for the answer but no luck, so anyone know the Torque settings for the front callipers, some sites say 75nm, I know the guide pins are 28nm?

Hi Ade

Can confirm the guide pin torque is 28Nm. If you have not done them before you need a 7mm allen key.

Unlike most VW brakes the sliding caliper mounting bracket is part of the wheel hub casting and not a bolt-on separate part so the guide pin torque is all you need. The neat part of this design is it makes disc removal very easy.

Only other watch-out is the spring steel 'prongs' on the back of the pads are different. Use the passenger side inner pad (with wear indicator wires) as a reference for the difference between inner and outer pads. Once you've looked, it becomes obvious the longer, more pointed prongs go inside the pistons.

Thanks Spike that's great advice & has answered lots of questions regards removing off the discs. I go to bed a happy man. Doesn't take much!
