Brake warning lights etc!

Life wouldn't be the same if one or other of the two A2s that I'm responsible for wasn't playing up at least once a year.
So, I've been away for 10 days during our current heatwave, leaving A2 on drive.
Came back, fired her up, and big BEEP plus red brake warning light. As I've had this happen before for no apparent reason, and as there was nothing wrong when I parked the car up, i gingerly drove down lane and tried brakes.....no problem at all.
Took it out a bit later - no immediate problem, but first time I used brakes, back came warning lights.
And basically this has gone on since - this morning I had the red brake warning, the orange ABS, the Orange traction control - and also for some reason the pre glow warning light flashing at me.
Any bright ideas folks....I've got car booked into local garage for a check, but at this stage they could tell me anything and I'd probably believe them!

Either both stop light bulbs have blown or you brake switch has failed
Switch the ignition on and apply the brakes and see if the stop lights illuminate.
If the centre one lights up (the LED bar) and the other two don't then it is your bulbs. If no brake lights appear (including the led brake light bar) then it is your switch.

I think you might have hit on one point in your 2nd line. Try putting car on charge for a while. The Christmas Lights often happens with a low battery, due to "Low voltage" going over the sensors on cranking. It then doesn't clear until fully charged battery.

Thanks guys. Plenty of charge in battery, brake lights fine. Read outs suggest it is the brake switch, but also a fault on NSF ABS sensor....but in each case, faults are intermittent!

Then it is likely to be a failing brake light switch I believe (the ABS error is likely to be an intermittent unrelated error. Could even just be mud on the speed sensor ring.

But worth replacing the brake switch since it seems to be failing

Final diagnosis and cure: 1) new brake switch; 2) new ABS sensor and lead - transpires that wiring was corroded / broken in several places, but only throwing up intermittent errors - until they detached it to cheque at which point it went into permanent error mode.
Downside of visit: had long chat about implications of new MoT rules - what a bummer .... any dashboard error light / message is a fail. That means that my Volvo V70 R, which is LPG converted, will fail, as ECU light is always on because of LPG conversion (apparently)!

Never had any issues with warning lights on my A6 on LPG.

Hey, I will join with simillar problem. Pre glow light flashing, VAG says brake light switch signal untrustworthy - sporadic (not sure about right translation because I have VAG in my native language) and if I delete it it reapears immediately. I replaced brake switch with new Hella one but it is still same. The thing is that 3rd brake light is working normaly even with the flashing preglow light but main lights in lamp are not working. Bulbs are OK, I even exchanged few other bulbs (new ones and from reverse lights) and no change. Someone any ideas?

My daughters A2 was doing the same thing with many warning lights and no brake lights at all. We replaced the brake light switch with a genuine part and this cured all problems

Problem maybe solved? Bulbs dead in both lamps and in addition fuse dead. Anyways right now it looks it is fine. Time will show...

Well, time shown it was brake light switch.

Unfortunately I run into different problem. I took one corner slightly faster, then tried left foot braking for correction (first time in A2) and red brake light went on with three really loud and unpleasant beeps. Red brake light then flash. usually it disappears after few minutes of driving normally. Now it appears when I take some corner roughly. Unfortunately yesterday RR wheel was partly braking so when I arrived to my destination brakes smelled really bad and wheel was pretty hot. I read failures on VCDS and no errors in ABS/brakes but I didn't look any further into the log. So far what I read here someone has simillar problems and it was caused by yaw sensor. Any other ideas well appreciated :)

So I checked complete error log and no errors that can affect it. Only few with comfort system/alarm and sporadic MAF :/

Well it seems that I had low level of brake fluid. I have really worn brake discs... Unfortunately it doesn't answer the question why I had stuck rear brake once. I will monitor it.
