Brake woes, front disc failure at low miles and other problems

Looks good. The metal holder/fork for the break wear sensor connector looks smashing, is it new? (and if so how did you lay your hand on it?

No it is not new. I had time on my hands waiting for bits and tools so I took the fossilised rusty mess that had expanded and broke my connector and subject it to electrolytic rust conversion overnight. I then washed the rust off and was going to plate it but there was still paint on there so I decided to paint it. I rust converted it (the acid primer stuff that turns steel black) to make sure and then gave it two coats of Smoothrite.

Thank you, I’m into restoration and sometimes restoration spills over to the daily. I was very surprised how well it turned out. Audi branding and part numbers are all still there and there is little pitting. I’d be happy with it on a restoration.
I tried to edit it out of the picture because I thought it may be a distraction. Good spot on your part.
