Breakdown cover

I insure with AutoAid breakdown no problem so far, but not needed yet on the A2 Just renewed both me and the wife in any vehicle. Been with them for a few years now.

It’s the person that’s insured and not the car!

I use Flux Rescue: £58 a year for Home Start, Roadside Assistance and Recovery. It's available whether you insure the vehicle through Adrian Flux or not. I've used the service twice - for a 20+ years old Land Rover Discovery - and the contractor that arrived was professional and knowledgeable on both occasions.

@Bargepower Personal Cover states under 16 years old. What cover do you have from Green Flag.

Whatever you need, we’ve got you covered.

Vehicle cover
for one car

If your car breaks down, we’ll come to the rescue.

It doesn’t matter who’s driving or if you’re in the vehicle at the time, if your car breaks down, we’ll be there.

And we’ve got five levels of cover for you to choose from.

Vehicle cover
for two cars

If you have two cars, you can get them both covered quickly and easily.

And even with two cars, it still doesn’t matter who’s driving them, we’ve always got your cars covered.

Personal cover
for you

Whatever car you’re traveling in, we’ll come to the rescue if something goes wrong.

As long as it’s less than 16-years-old, privately registered in and being used in the UK, we’ll be there.

The vehicle on your Green Flag policy will also be covered for good measure.
I have 1 vehicle cover. It’s pointless having personal cover as I only ever drive my own car.

@Bargepower So if I understand you correctly. It is only Personal Cover that has the age limitation on the car. Single vehicle cover has no age limits? Whereas I am in up to 4 different cars.

@Cenick
Are you sure that there is no restriction on the car? Like age especially? Have you read the T&Cs carefully?
Mac.

Can't see an Insurance Co taking on unlimited liability, they aren't daft.

I just reread the terms and more importantly exclusions and they make no mention of vehicle age, only that it must have a current MOT and be roadworthy.

Hi @Cenick
There must be a definition of "Eligible Vehicle" somewhere.
I just got a quote, for my TT, and it's a bit extra for over 15s, but still cheap.
Couldn't see any target response times, or who delivers the actual service, when you breakdown though.
AutoAid seems to be Breakdown Insurance (via a Guernsey based Insurance Co), not a Breakdown Service (like AA or Green Flag. How does it work when you call them.
Mac.

I have Start Rescue, who are cheaper than the mainstream firms and get good reviews, although I can't comment on the service, as I've not needed them so far.

Another Green Flag with Recovery Plus (full works) at £74 recently renewed. This is specific vehicle cover and the date of registration (2004) is on the policy document. 2 years ago it did jump up to over £100 but I rang them and said I was going elsewhere and got a deal!

Yep breakdown insurance co/broker... you ring the freephone number and they arrange a local garage to come out.

My wife has used them twice with her Abarth and the service was good on both occasions.

I hope I won’t need them for the A2, but if I do i hope they don’t quibble the age as there is no mention in the policy of an age limit as I specifically checked. My research (quick google) showed that they covered classics with no age restriction!

Autoaid recovered me in a 24 year old Jag, no problem.

I'm with the RAC, about £200 per annum from memory. Used them once last year when the power steering gave up; there was no problem with them taking me all the way down to WOM Automotive in Uttoxeter.

Groupon normally offer deals on breakdown cover....I forget who it was with but friends of mine had it and when it was needed they were very good. Have a quick flick through on your phone on their app.
