Buckled wheel!!

Just been to get the wheels (17 inch 9 spoke) balanced on my 1.6 FSI Sport. They called me over to have a look and one is badly out of shape on the inside of the rim.

Does anyone have any idea how much these are from Audi (I will make sure I am sitting down when I get a reply!).

Or I don't supose anyone has one lying around thay are willing to part with?
 
there is a company in woburn sands (near me) who claim to be able to fix most problems..... Pristine alloys or something like that - they are one of the biggest in the UK

You may want to try contacting them.
 
buckled wheels are pretty much unfixable. this is caused by speed bumps. audi use far to soft an alloy compund and thus the wheels get knackered. i have a feeling one of mine is the same at the moment

can you say if you can notice it when driving and if so how?

the replica ones are made from stronger stuff. Try a set of good reps if you want to avoid having to replace the wheels one at a time. I got a set of 18" ones from skidz in Falkirk for £300.
 
Thanks for the replies. You only noticed it when you when over 50mph you would then get vibration throught the steering wheel. They have managed to balance that out but you should see the amount of weights they have used!!!

I think replicas maybe the way to go.
 
Audi 17" genuine alloy = £300 each.

I am considering buying a set of replicas and shelving the Audi alloys for resale, at least you can drive without constantly worrying about damaging these "delicate" items:eek:

why dont you try and source a second hand one from a scrappy. Quite often there are wheels available in singles as the rest of the car has been totalled
find a part is a good place to try. just do a search for it as i dont know how to do the link for you. could get auto trader and look up vag dismantlers as well. Personally i wouldnt want a new whell as it could stcick out like a sore thumb from theothers

I had a the same thought, one new one would look a bit odd compared to the other three old kurbed ones!!!
