Building my Frankie

The finish is created by pitting that is left after the rust has been removed.

Once the rust had been removed the item is electro zinc plated. It comes out of plating , is rinsed and then dipped in diluted passivate.

Sounds pricey :-/

Calipers might have to wait a bit longer lol.

The inside is back together briefly, we have some chrome work to do which means it’ll be back out for that.

Just took some pictures for a quick update, excuse the mess - daily driver, so at the moments she’s covered in runaway fish n chips and a lot of sand (esp the backseats!!!) Other than that, I’m loving the way the interior is shaping up :)

The bad edge is our fault ? hoping to conceal that with chrome edging.... ?

Ended up ripping the new white vinyl off the door cards and just painting them....this uncharacteristically hot weather is not good for vinyl ? It was neigh in perfect when we fitted it the second time, but the heat just caused it to bubble all over. So, we’re on doorcards Mk3..., watch this space ?

As for the exterior, the DRL’s are in. Not a fan of the spots, so they’re going as soon as we get new fog light surrounds.

Both looking great! I’m a big fan of your colour combo Sam - plus those wheels which look fab. Have you thought about having them painted white to complement the roof?

Lol! If I had a pound for everytime I’ve been asked about spraying them white, I’d be well on the way to being able to buy a second set in white ;)
I’ve never really been a fan of painted alloys in all honesty, it’s not something I’ll rule out if and when I curb them, but (touch wood) my “A2 parking” style has paid off so far, so they’re still factory fresh ? Hope you’re well D, will be great to see you on the social :)

We’re all ill and on holiday sadly, unbelievably unfair, but that is life. Looking forward to seeing you guys too.
I saw your FB post saying you were all unwell :-( sucky for it to strike during your holiday/ family time. Hope you’re all still managing to enjoy the trip. The photos you’ve taken are amazing, so I’m glad you’ve been able to keep going at least.

Thanks Sam. Tough going and not able to make the most of every day, but we have tried our best. Over a week gone and still it lingers on. We’ll get there I’m sure.

@A2Steve - do you treat the thermostat and temperature sender as service consumable items then? Replace at every service, or just when the history is unknown?

No not at all, it's just that both our A2s were failing to reach 90 degrees so needed doing. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' :)
