Any thoughts on the C3 in comparison to the A2, just saw a banner advert for it on this site believe it or not! Any one had a test drive, it is cheaper than the A2 how does it compare[?] C3 A2 Aclass the market is up for grabs!

Very very poor interior-it could have been one C£ doing the rounds for magazine reviews (very much doubt it), and pieces just kept falling off....

I have seen one 'in the flesh' and it is very very small-sort of a noddy car-made the people inside look huge!.

I think the C3 is quite cute looking - and has a nice shape. However, I think the key - as Runboy hinted - is the build quality/engineering/design.

If I wanted a small, cheap car, I may get a C3 - but it is not the same market at all as the A Class or the A2. Its not a mini-MPV - have you considered the Fusion?

A C3 vs A2 - like comparing chalk and cheese!

or maybe the Honda Jazz? Looks like the most direct rival to an A2 to me.
I have had citroens and peugeots in the past - in my experience they don't come anywhere near Audi for build and quality.
It was the typical Audi feel when I drove the A2 that convinced me to pay so much for a small car.
At least with the Honda Jazz you get decent build quality and reliability, although the interior is not as nice as an A2.

Nice car and superb steel suspension ,as you would expect, but it is not in the A2 league for handling, drivability or standard of interior finish. The plastics are of the Tonka toy quality.
The 3 door will no doubt replace my AX though!

Never had close look at C3. Used to own a couple of Citroens - ZX and Xantia.

ZX was a great runner but the interior build quality was utterly abysmal. Xantia I did not like - simple as that.

I certainly have no interest in Citroens once I owned an Audi.

I agree the C3 is a very pleasant looking car (especially in pale metallic blue), however I feel it’s a bit unfair to compare directly with an A2 especially when the money for a good spec A2 would purchase “two” C3’s.

Having previously owned two new Citroen’s (BX16TRS & BX19GTI) their feel of quality and solidity was very poor in comparison to any Audi, but that said if my A2 had been as trouble free as either of my past Citroens then I would be driving an Audi today. From my experiences the gearbox, clutch, accelerator, and willing engines from Citroen walked circles around that which existed on my A2. The only problem with those French things is that they are like tin cans, however I have noted that the press have raved over the security features and standards of the C3. Finally I would have to say that I reckon few cars depreciate as fast as a Citroen.

Skoda Rapid's (Rapide's?) had great security-it was the fact it was a Skoda Rapid!!!

French magazines like it but say the finish is poor. It is very very un-aerodynamic and so the fuel consumption for equivalent models is +10% or more compared to our cars. On the other hand they say the ride is good. Steering dead around the striaght-line position.

John's comment brought a smile to my face. I agree wholly that if mine had been fault free I would still have it. Following a red 1.6 FSi the other day brought back fond memories. It just shows how poor Audi CS and dealers have been to allow so many customers to get away.

The C3 looks nice but I watched the bloke from Top Gear (Adrian I think) remove most of the dashboard while driving it[:0]

The Jazz really is formiddable mind. Top of the range version for about £12k max with loads of toys and very few options. Looks nice in most colours, drives very well and crucially will never break down! We've two years left on the A Class but £17k was a lot for a car and there are too many competitors at the £10-12k mark now to opt for Audi/Merc again.

I am surprised that no mention has been made in this thread to the new 16v HDI aluminium diesel engine soon to be available in the C3. CAR magazine reports this joint venture with Ford (and PSA of course) produces 92 bhp, 148lb ft, and will go to 5000 rpm and will return 65.7mpg.
This, on paper, must be the ideal "fit" for the A2, and seems the first apparent improvement over the VW/Audi 1.4TDi we all praise.
Have the French stolen a march on our favourite German supplier???[?]

Hi jessie,

Haven't read about this particular engine yet, however I have noticed how good the PSA Diesel engines have become all of a sudden. Been behind a few 307 HDI's and they have really motored away from me.

I had one as a hire car in Scotland back in June. Overtaking was easy and fun [^] I don't know what exact model - all it said was 307HDi!! We took advantage of an offer to buy the tank of diesel first and whatever we return it with we lose... After 550 miles there was still 1/4 of the tank left! I'm sure they gave us the diesel as we went for the fuel offer... I hadn't driven a diesle before and soon grew to dislike the rumble at idle. The inside wasn't quite to my taste - to me not quite as good as the brand new (6 miles) Stilo Dynamic 1.6 that was hired for me 4 weeks before (although as good as the base Stilo I've driven since). I have to wait and see how good I think the A2 actually is (nothing like seeing/touching it in the flesh [:p] ) before I can decide if A2 is definatly the way to go... Choices, choices...
