Cabin filter orientation and housing

Hello

I found loads of info on hear about cabin filters but cant find the answer to my problem.
After servicing my bug last weekend I took out the old cabin filter which was covered in crud there was no plastic frame around it and no indication as to which way round the filter should be.

Perhaps its written on the filter housing which is missing maybe.

The new filter is one way so should the arrows point right or left is my question?

The arrows should be pointing right in a RHD car, that is pointing from the outside to the centre.

Yes as @steve_c has stated . All cars regardless of steering wheel position the pollen filter ALWAYS points towards the steering wheel.

I believe the later filters no longer require the plastic frame.
