Cam Belt & Water Pump Quote

Evening. My car is on 60k and I read the general advice is to change it at this stage. I have a 1.6 FSi. I have received a quote from HiQ for £296.81 plus VAT, which includes the cam belt, water pump & tensioners and something else that may or may not need changing (idlers?). Is this a good price? I am based in Oxford, soon to be Bucks if anyone knows anything better please. Thanks.

Audi dealers in Stafford and Stoke will do it for £325 all in. Including cambelt change and water pump.

This also includes the 2yr warranty on the work, a courtesy car and your car valeted.

Can't go wrong really

Thank you A2Look I thought of going to them but the thing is by the time I have driven to Stafford/Stoke I have probably paid more in the long run including petrol. Or is it wise to have Audi guarantee on parts etc?

I would (for the small difference money) go to Audi. The cambelt is a major service part in terms of keeping your engine running :)

I know it might be difficult but you could try to get your local Audi dealer to price match? I did this successfully.

Now that is a good idea! Have done that before with ARB, so not sure why I hadn't thought of that again. Will let you know!

Manchester Audi are doing the cambelt offer, so next time you come up this way to visit the family, why not drop it in with them.

You could always try to get a price match as well.

Cheers,

Mike

mine is going in next week for cambelt/water pump fitting to a local specialist i know well, i'll update shortly with my price, but expect around 200 quid all in.

yes i was happy, but he hoped to do it for less thinking it was as easy as working on a polo, apparently it's a bit more time consuming:(

Cambelt

Pulman VW at Durham have a special offer at the moment to change the cambelt for under 200 pounds.
They have said they will change the belt on my 1.4 petrol se, 2004 model for £195 including the tension roller and I am now just waiting for the price of the water pump change.
I used to take my polo into this garage for work as the staff and service is excellent, and they have a nice cafe too! :D

I still think Audi Main Dealers offer isnt bad. Plus there is always a route of comeback if something goes wrong.

If I was to need mine doing now again I would go to audi because it isn't that bad of a price and you have got that guarantee
