Cambelt Change

Hi
Looking to buy an A2 soon, can only afford earlier model ie 2000-2001, would like TDi, what is advised on cambelt changes?
Love the forum!:)

On TDi engines the cambelt and tensioner roller should be changed at 60,000 miles. Strangely the service book does not specify an age limit for the belt but if you find a low mileage car I would be tempted to change it after 6 years regardless.
Good luck with the car search.

pump & tensioners during a belt change are always a good idea when they've racked up more than 30k or so.

for the amount of grief a failure can cause, the extra money is worth it for peace of mind imo - knowing the belt train is good on an engine is worth it.
