Can I disable pad wear sensors in vagcom

Per the header really? The socket on the y piece has broken. Rather than repair, can I simply disable via a garage with vagcom?
Thanks

No is the simple answer
You can however connect the wires together in the socket at the back of the instrument cluster

Lol b****r

Thanks,

Well I've got an auto electrician coming out to fix my mk1 focus cluster so maybe they can help out with a repair on this too.

It's pretty easy to effect a repair. I've done this and it's on the forum ..... do a search

Hi, I was just reading through a repair thread actually and am subsequently googling the new plug to solder on I think it's 1J0973802. I'm not too worried as I know the brakes are good but if I can disable the alert I can then disable the impending moaning from my wife.

@Legatron This is the guy I use for replacement plugs etc. This one comes pre wired with a length of cable and outer protection. Just splice it in away from the pads and seal up the joins.

Either way this is the guy I use he will have most connectors available. Pad side not worth replacing just fit new shoes.

I tried numerous versions of this, some of which were initially successful but in the end the bypass/splicing was getting further and further back, so in the end I worked out how to bridge the connections in the back of the instrument panel and it's been 100% ever since.

Do you recall which pin needs grounded?

Confirmed. Pin 2 solid red wire bridge to line 24 earth. If no wire in 24 it should still be earth but earth is also on pins 7 and 9

From memory I did 2 and 24 but had to add a pin in 24 as it was empty

I ordered a replacement lead
Basically the same as this video here.
When the weather picks up I'll get the soldering iron out.

You could turn off pad wear warnings on some VAG cars but maybe the A2 is different, either way soldering the wires together and covering with adhesive heat shrink is my prefered method

Thanks Paul, just completed this mod, silence when I start the car (well other than the diesel clatter). Regards the diesel clatter, I turned off the engine in our 1.4 petrol A2 the other day as I thought I'd stalled it, I hadn't, they're just SO quiet!
