Can the Window Motor be Reset without Disconnecting Battery?

Has anyone got a way of doing this? I have tried taking out fuse 41 (which says it is for the left hand door) to no avail. Taking one of the connectors off the door switch does not do it either.

Hi Providence,
Is the window going up & then go back down?
This can be caused by dry or dirty window runners cured by lubrication with a silicone spray .

If the window isn’t going up or down via the one touch of the switch you can reset by holding the button in the up position for a few seconds & then doing the same for the down position & it should then work.
Hope that helps
Keith.

Yes Keith I know you were. Just another case of people not explaining the issue or what they are trying to achieve...

I thought the question was quite clear. My passenger side window occasionally stops working. This is always fixed when I disconnect the battery and reconnect. Having tried to achieve this reset by the methods that I have stated, I wondered if anyone had discovered some other way of resetting the motor.

Thanks kp115. I do understand all that and have lubed it up but it still seems to want to die every now and then!

OK so when it stops does it just stay closed, stay open or close then reopen by itself? Does it do the same thing using the switch on the passenger door and the switch on the drivers panel? You may have a bad contact to the door controller, this could either be on the drivers master controller or the passenger door controller. Does the window open on the remote? How much use is the car having, does the battery go flat?

The battery disconnect ( leave disconnected for about 10 minutes ) is the best method as it performs a reset. When you reconnect the battery have you reset the one touch for the windows?

I think you have misunderstood my enquiry. The whole of your 1st paragraph seems to be addressing the question 'why does the window stop working?' That is not the question I asked. Your 2nd paragraph tells me what I already said in my original post. Incidentally I have found it resets with a less than 1 second battery disconnect (in case there's anybody else reading this ;)).

Well aren't you better trying to find out why you need to reset the window? Leave the battery off a bit longer as it may not be resetting correctly, after all what have you got to lose.

Are there any wiring wizards out there? Can anybody explain why disconnecting the left door using the fuse does not work?

Thanks

The left door is a slave unit of the right door. You could try pulling the left and right fuses to see if that works for you.
