Car Tax & SORN?

Just a question regarding the new car tax rules...

I paid for my 6 months tax in cash at the post office and wish to register it SORN online at the end of the month.

Do i have to give enough notice? Or can i wait until the last day then SORN on the .gov site?

How would they refund me if i paid cash?

I can answer the car tax part of this.

Once I had successfully managed to SORN my vehicle, the tax refund arrived within a couple of days by cheque.

The SORN process was somewhat confusing. Didn't manage to do it online so went to a post office to try to register it. I was given a print out of the details and thought that was done. Then at least one month later received a more comprehensive form from DVLA to complete. After that received acknowledgement that car was SORN.

Pleasantly surprised how fair they were with the refund. I had paid for one year's tax online last June so when finally scrapped in December, was only expecting five months refund ? A full six month's refund arrived by cheque.

Good luck with yours

Hilary

Thanks for the info.

It has about 4 and a bit months left, so i will register it SORN at the end of the month online and wait for the cheque. :)
