Anyone here used that No wet wonder foams advertised on the likes of QVC?.

I have a cream coloured (I know, why cream!) carpet that is in need of a clean in places. I can't be bothered with a full furniture removal and get someone in to do it as it's only parts that need a scrub.

Any other ideas apart from down on my hands and knees and get scrubbing with a J cloth?.

Get some Vax wet vaccum cleaner carpet shampoo. Its great at getting stains out of carpets - use it neat on small areas of stains and rub with a cloth.

Just be careful, I've tried this and they do warn to try on an unobtrusive patch first (disclaimer on most of the products I guess, not just VAX). Good job I did on our lounge carpet as it mildly bleached it :(

Thanks guys. I do have a spray that foams up on the carpet and so far has done well on spot cleaning-looks like I'll be on my hands and knees scrubbing soon!.

On a connected note-my Dyson packed up last night for the second time-motor failed. OK, it's a few years old now but along with the cable breaking up (twice) and now two motor burnouts I'm not overly impressed. And you have to buy filters for them. And they DO loose suction when they get filled up.

I'll be over to Hoover now I think.

A shame, I've had a DC03+ for many years now without a hitch. Have also gone for the CR01 washing machine (in it's second year) - washes huge loads (weekly family loads, duvets, etc.), but is quite expensive to purchase. Looks the DBs though. Had one issue where the contrarotator locked up, but they came out and replaced the part (which has been altered in all newer models - some atmospheric conditions they hadn't tested against in development) plus they checked I had all the newer bits and also upgraded the software whilst there. Did a complete health check of the machine.

Can't speak for the vacuum cleaner side of things, but on the service I have received around the CR01, they have been THE BEST service organisation I have ever had to deal with. The engineer was prompt, VERY knowledgeable, courteous and thorough. I will keep buying Dyson until they do something to change my mind - e.g. problems you've had Runboy.

My old next door neighbour worked for Hoover, then area engineer for Dyson-very handy for bits (like a new motor!). Only charged about £20 for fitting new motor, cable, service and all the filters I could ever want. Shame I moved!.

I'll go for a Hoover tonight-£145 from Curry's. 1900watt motor (230 airwatts) so powerfull, and a 5 year parts warranty (1 year labour).

If you look at review sites like "dooyou", the Dyson range generally don't get good reviews-but then as we all know, we only complain when it goes wrong and rarely praise when it's right!.

True. When I phoned the customer line to praise the engineer service they we're really appreciative and made the comment that usually people only contact them to complain or register a fault, but rarely to praise. For all I know that praise has put me in the good books of the local engineer (the praise went all the way up to Dyson himself to give back to him directly he told me) means that he'll look out for me in the future.

I think Dyson get a bad ride because they're different, a bit like the A2. I think that's another reason why I like the products.

I have 3 Dyson vacuum cleaners , and one Dyson washing machine. All perform perfectly, the washing machine in particular. Previous service on vacuum cleaners perfect, and one call out on washing machine, once again perfect. None of the above problems were serious. I am definitely a Dyson convert. My wife bought a Hoover (Dyson copy) recently, what a load of rubbish, we gave it away. My experiences over the years with Hoover are such that I would not buy one again, that is ANY Hoover product.
Why 3 vacuum cleaners, well my wife finds thenm too heavy to carry up the stairs, so they are in strategic places to avoid carrying.

Carpet cleaning, we have a Bissell Powerwash. It looks and acts like an upright vaccuum cleaner, and really does get the dirt out, and leaves the carpet dry.It would appear to be expensive, but when just about everybody borrows it, it's not so bad. I am sure that with a cream carpet I would find it essential.
Remind me to tell you of the time I heated up a large can of graphite grease on the gas stove to soak my motorcycle chain. You guessed it, the whole lot got tipped all over the kitchen carpet. The Bissell would not have coped with that!! My wife didn't seem to understand the importance opf a well lubricated chain, she still doesnt, I tried to explain, but.....

Thanks for the comments hollyrescue. Seems that Dyson are a bit like Audi-some people have nothing but good times, others nothing but bad. I've gone down the Hoover route and will try it. Got a Hoover washing machine, a few years old now-fantastic. Always works (probably talked up a problem now!) so you never know.......

I've even offered to wash VBH's smalls, but she never takes me up on the offer......

I can imagine some people, not me personally, would want to keep the smalls 'unwashed' if they were VBHs.

Dyson are only a BIT like Audi - in terms of their innovative products, e.g. A2 they are. A big difference though when it comes to service! Dyson are top notch whereas Audi can be a little patchy in some dealerships.
