Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if I can get Castrol SLX OW30 Long Life 2 oil anywhere else apart from Audi?

One more thing, does anyone have a list of parts/materials (and prices) that are used for your 1st service (A2 1.6 FSI Sport)?

Many thanks,

Steve

Note:
Had an interesting conversation with Audi this morning: I phoned them up and asked them the following:

"I've just bought an 18 month second hand A2 which has been fully serviced, however, not at an Audi dealership, does this affect the warranty"

"No, as long as it's done at the proper service intervals and used genuine parts (must have proof of this) the warranty remains."

So, I then phoned my local dealer and asked them for a full list of parts & prices to be faxed to me so I could then purchase them and take them to my local garage (whom I've always used in the past with other cars). The lady asked me whether I was going to book it in at an Audi dealership to which I replied no. She then said my warranty would be void. She was very adamant about this until I said an Audi employee at their Head Office told me the above.

To me it didn't sound like a genuine mistake and I think it's disgusting a high profile company bascially try and con us.

Well, just my 2 pennies worth :)

Hi Shezlee,

To be frank I would prefer to use Audi to do the servicing but money's a bit tight and my other quote for this is £150, I've just got a quote from my Audi dealership and it's nearly £330!! Maybe getting an email from Audi to confirm the warranty issue might be best.

Cheers

That seems high. A friend has just had a longlife service on an A4 for £220.

If anyone's interested....

Parts for 1st Service:

Sump Plug
Oil Filter
Pollen Filter
Oil

Apparently I'll need 4-5 litres and it's about £12.50 a litre.

Just want to add a couple of things in Audi's favour. They have since been very responsive & helpful to my request.

I also had a fault with my indicators yesterday. Phoned them 9 o'clock this morning by 9:30 they had come out and replaced the relay, all fixed, very efficient.

You could always have a day out and get the car serviced in a lower cost area, ours was around "£225 (Sutton Coldfield, inc. courtesy car), plus a tank of fuel and you are still less than your dealer - and you maintain the FSH.

p.s. see sticky in this section for prices in other places.

I've been to collect the parts for the service, here's what you need and how much:

Part No. Description Price (Excl. VAT)

030115561AB Oil Filter 3.86
N90813201 Sump Plug 0.80
6Q0820367 Pollen Filter 10.81
ZGB115CLB00110 Castrol Oil 12.70 (per litre)

I ordered 6 litres, apparently a service needs 4-5 so then 1 spare for topping up.

I also ordered front brake pads:

1J0698151E Brake Pads 42.00

All in all, not cheap but will still save quite a bit on Audi's price. I've been given a quote of around £100 from the garage so total cost £200 (excluding brake pads as their not part of a first service). Quite a good saving on the £330 Audi wanted to charge me.

As for my indicator problem:

Came out yesterday fixed them. Disconnected head unit, so came back out again today. Head unit now working but broken a bit of plastic so need to order a replacement part [29].

Mmmmm a day out in Sutton Coldfield. Interesting! ;)
Only kidding ianjohnsonws14.....it's a good idea.

Though I am curious as to why Listers Audi dealers to not all quote the same amunt for a basic service?

Got quoted £290 at one dealer and £250 at another. Also audi said that an brake fluid change has to be done at 2yr service interval? First dealer quoted £78 second £50. the first dealer said he would price match. I said if you can't give me the best price in the first place then the second dealer would get the money. I think thats fair?

totally agree, sneaky b****rs!!!

what get's me is when you go into a dealership looking to buy they're so humble, as soon as it comes to aftersales service they think their bloody God's gift. Being so bitter I would love to point out they're just regular employees and there to service the customer. Reminds me a lot of those assistants you get in designer clothes shops down Bond Street.

Sorry for the pointless rant, must be the hot weather.

Some of the lower prices are down in the West Country - better than Sutton Coldfield!

Hi,

If this is the product you are looking for I can supply it much cheaper than your Dealer.

Castrol Formula SLX 0w-30 (Fully synthetic)
VW 502.00, 505.00 & 503.01

If you need a 503.01 spec oil then this is one of 3 that I offer the other 2 are:

Mobil 1 0w-40 (Fully synthetic)
VW 502.00, 505.00 & 503.01

Fuchs/Silkolene Titan Supersyn SL 0w-30 (Fully synthetic)
VW 502.00, 505.00 & 503.01

Personally I would go with the Fuchs if you need this spec as it's much cheaper.

Fuchs is the German Parent Company of Silkolene and supplies around 10,000,000 litres of oil to VW/AUDI for factory fill per annum so it is likely that your car arrived in this country with their oil in it!

If your car does not require 503.01 then save your money and let me know what VW spec it requires and I'll recommend an oil for you.

Check out the specs here www.opieoils.co.uk/lubricants.htm or drop me an email on [email protected] and I'll send you the PDF's.

Hope this helps,

Cheers
Simon

I got mine for my 1.4 TDI from Halsford, it was about £40 for 4 litres. It said on the bottle that it is designed for Audi/VW advanced diesel engines. I think it is good stuff as my car did not require a service until it was 28,000 miles and according to the service indicator, between my last service to the next one, I would have to do another 30,000 miles.
