CCU recoded now fuel flap not working!

Hello,

Regular viewers may know I bought my A2 coming up to a year ago for a song as it had a current drain issue. That was diagnosed to CCU which was replaced + key back and everything was good in the world.

Recently Im doing a lot of "dad taxi" work with kids pickup and drop to clubs and the auto door locking, which is how it happened to be setup, was proving a pain. I recoded the CCU today to 6859, which is my chosen config based on the code tables I have seen AND is actually the original CCU code for the unit that was replaced (I took photots of the orignial config etc)

Now the door config is great, but the fuel flap wont open. Im currently doing that manually, but id like it back properly. I know it works as it did previoulsy and if you press enough buttons on the remote you can get it to work (im yet to work out the sequence)

Can anyone think what I have done wrong?

Thanks.

Does the 2 buttons on the B pillar illuminate when you open the drivers door? Does the drivers door show open on DIS and turn on the interior lights?

Auto door locking is when you unlock the car but fail to open a door within about 30 seconds, the car will relock itself.

Anti hijack is where the car locks all doors when about 10MPH is reached. All doors unlock if the key is removed or the unlock button on the drivers door card used and individual doors can be opened by pulling the interior handle twice. Exterior handles do not open any door.

Door lock cycling is a different issue and not a feature but a fault with one or more door lock microswitches / wiring.

Ill check the 2 buttons and DIS tomorrow but I think yes, its showing as open when open. And yes, Its the anit-hijack I want to have disabled. Ill also put it back to the old config and ensure everything works as it was.

Coding 6859 does not include the anti-hijack feature. It’s already switched off.
I strongly suspect that the behaviour you’re experiencing is a fault in the driver’s door microswitch circuit. I must have fixed this fault 7 times in the last month or so; it’s a common fault that often exists in tandem with a dodgy CCCU, combining to create some weird and wonderful behaviours.

Cheers,

Tom

Yep, its the door switch. DIS not showing the door is open and no lights on. Odd that it failed the same tankfull I did the code on (tank lasts many weeks though), but there we are. Looks like ill be doing that job once various other car jobs ...... long story.... get done.

Sorry, quick follow up question. re the Microswitches is it a new lock mechanism or just a resolder job? What do I need to buy!

Unfortunately, before you find out the cause of the problem, there's no single answer. There are 3 or 4 ways in which the microswitch circuit fails. Sometimes it's the microswitch itself, sometimes it's solder joints on the circuit board, sometimes it's the cam mechanism that presses the microswitch, sometimes it's wiring within the door (though this usually presents additional symptoms), etc.
Having a used replacement door lock to hand could well be useful, but there's no guarantee that it won't have one of the above failure modes. It does, however, give you the (probable) option to make one good unit from two bad ones. I fix this issue frequently, though have boxes of internal spares to hand. For those without a stash of internal parts, a brand new lock assembly is the only guaranteed way of being able to dismantle the door and reassemble it, fully working, in one visit.

Cheers,

Tom

I have just bought a 1.6 FSI with a non-functioning fuel flap. The switch feels ok and I've done the courtesy light test suggested on this and other threads - no light. While I could probably replace the switch myself, that doesn't sound like the problem and this talk of CCU's and code 6859 is way over my head. I've discovered the workround via the light cluster panel but would really like it fixed. Any suggestions?

I’m near Lancaster, so not far from Clitheroe, and have fixed this fault more times than I’ve had hot dinners. I’ll happily do the same for you should you wish. I’m told I know the A2 fairly well.

Tom

That's great. How do I get in touch direct?
If you click on my forum name (timmus) above this post, you’ll see the option to ‘start conversation’. That opens a private exchange between the two of us.
