You can do no better than arranging a visit to Tom(Timmus) in Lancaster when he returns fron his stay down south that ends in two weeks.

Welcome by the way.

Evening,

I’m sure you have already tried to replace the battery. To resynchronise a key matched to the A2 you just need to put the key into the ignition, switch the ignition on and press the unlock (or lock) button for a few seconds. Remove the key from the ignition and try to lock the car with the remote fob when all doors are closed. This should work.

If it doesn’t work; to assist could you take you key fob apart to access view of the part number, it will be something like:

8Z0 837 231. It also might have a D at the end of the part number.

The D at the end or not is very important.

Additionally could you lift the passengers footwell carpet followed by the aluminium to access the space below. The top black box you’ll see (along with a plethora of connectors and looms) is the CCCU. It’s part number is:

8Z0 959 433, again this will 1 or 2 letters after it and are important for us to understand if the key is compatible with the CCCU.

Please report back with the part numbers mentioned.

As Andrew states above, you’re not too far from Tom @timmus who would be able to solve this issue if you have a failed CCCU or indeed have an incorrect key for the car’s electrics. Before we investigate further, knowing the part numbers will help as it understand what might be a simple reason why the key will not sync.

Something that many will also suggest is get a second key. Should something go wrong or if you misplace the only key you have then you really would be in a pickle.

Kind regards,

Tom
