is there a way to get this out? The normal ones are easy but this is proving a PITA to remove.

I imagine you'd have to start from the top - radio out, climate out, then disconnect the seat heater rollers, finally get your fingers behind the cubby and pull (with the ashtray open, of course).

Ashtray open and remove the 2 screws securing the ashtay and remove it half way out of the dash, slide your hand into the cubby then try to clench your fist. Hopefully you will get your hand to take up the gap in the opening then withdraw your hand while still clenched. Move your hand from side to side trying to free one side at a time. If you can't make a fist try putting both hands into the cubby then with force jam your hands on opposing sides of the cubby and pull. Be very careful if you are tempted to pry it loose from the outside as you will mark the surrounding dash. If still no luck you may have to progressively remove the stereo and the climate or rotary heater controls to gain access to push it out from behind as @Proghound has described. The smaller cubby with the seat controls is more rigid than the non seat version making it harder for the area supporting the clips to flex and release.
