changing cambelt myself - help needed

ok, ive just bought my first a2 (2001 1.4 petrol se) and am absolutely loving it! however, the service records show that the cambelt has never been changed. the previous owner said it did not need changing until 80000 (currently on 51000) but i have seen elsewhere that it should not go longer than 5 years before replacement. my first question is, has anybody ever ordered parts from vwspares.co.uk? ive seen the cambelt kit on there and it seems reasonably priced at £85, can it be had cheaper? my next question is, does anyone have the elsawin or similar instructions with diagrams for the cambelt and waterpump changing procedure? also, are the specialist tools needed or a waste of money? finally, if anyone as any useful tips from previous experience i would be very grateful.

Hi Rob
I'd recommend you buy a genuine Audi cambelt kit for such critical parts - http://www.stokeaudi-parts.co.uk/products.php?product=Audi-A2-Cambelt-Kit-AUA-&-BBY-Engines
If you decide to use Stoke, contact Dave the parts manager - [email protected]
Make sure any kit you buy includes the short belt which links the camshafts and its also worth changing the water pump at the same time. I'm sure a club member has changed the cambelt on a petrol so I'll try and find the thread
Just did -
