Cheap(er) xcarlink on eBay?

I have the AnyCarLink 1080-B, at about £75. It does Bluetooth, USB, hands free, SD Card etc. Comes with everything you need, including radio extractors, and is plug and play. What extra does the XCar do, to justify the premium price? Mac.

They might well have the same internals - my Xcarlink doesn’t have an SD slot or reset button, but the rest is the same as anycarlink. Looks like I could have saved £5.. but certainly nobody should be buying direct.

Do you live in the garage while the bits live in the house? ;)
Actually, and this really is the truth, my partner tells our friends that she is a "garage widow"! I have always been highly practical and inventive, and that's where I love to be! Well, not ALL of the time ..... there's no bed in there! LOL!. I've been that way since I was 7-8 Years old! I had Meccano and I used to take old alarm clocks to bits .... My bike, too, right down to every part! Then motor cycles, cars, EVERYTHING! More recently, I designed, planned and built my current property .... I did the electrics, plumbing, tiling, flooring .... on it goes! I just HAVE to be using my hands and making things! I worry that I MIGHT run out of ideas for my A2! (I've got LED arrays to fit into the rear-light clusters and indicators to install in the side-mirrors, so still some ideas!) Oh, the garage is over 7 metres square, so plenty of room for stuff ... there's probably another A2 in bits in there, anyway!

A man after my own heart. I'm always tinkering but they usually end up in the bin. Lol

Tending to do most things myself as well where i can and/or have the tools i must say it is part of the process when starting out :D just get a joblot/bin full of stuff for practice and you'll be golden with some experience.

Out of curiosity as i am about to pull the trigger on one of those @DJ 190 - would you be willing to part with one of those bluetooth doodads? Assuming it works and has all the cables. I've got all the bits except a doodad to go replace the broken cup holders and fairly tired center vents along with adding bluetooth to my symphony 2.

If James May had a nom de plume.. nonetheless, I do applaud you! As a chemical engineer, I tend to stick to the philosophical rather than getting close enough to break things..

I have bought some keys and looked at the back of my radio. The Nokia hands free appears to be spliced into the other cables and the CD changer socket is free. Am I right in thinking if I swap to a Concert 1 unit I could use one of these Xcarlink devices and retain my Nokia handsfree? I’d prefer to keep it as the Xcarlink handsfree won’t work when listening to normal radio stations.

Hands Free only works when the radio source is Bluetooth, that goes for all the adapters. But, you can listen to normal radio stations via the phone (BBC Sounds app, or Radioplayer app, which supports commercial radio too). Phone data is quite cheap now, and streaming radio is convenient on Bluetooth, with the the bonus of hands free.
Mac.

That is exactly what I do using a gadget bought from eBay, £8.
Also use Bluetooth in frankie using the touch screen thingy.

Thanks for the advice. I definitely want to retain my current handsfree though. Where I live mobile signal is patchy. To listen to the radio through data I’d have to drive a couple of miles then pull over when in reach of data and get the app going. Even then it will keep cutting out.
