Cheap, non-approved oil that meets 507 spec - Logic & facts

Just noticed this: these boxes are brilliant! Used properly they pour extremely fast if you want, you can wring the bag out and get to the last bit of oil. It'll happy take being filled with the waste oil for the tip. When there the bag goes in general waste and the box in the cardboard bin.

I was horrified when the first one arrived: now love them. All you have to do is use them correctly: tab up, reach in and pull out the neck, clip in place, flap down which locks the neck and after that it's a normal can until you recycle the outer later. Also, if you have a bit of oil left in the bag, that can be squished Into one of the accessory holes in the lower boot area for future use.
It’s cheaper as well !!!

Maybe of interest.

Ordered yesterday, came this afternoon about three.
That was quick. Although, it came from chorley and he's in Milton Keynes, so he must have storage up here.

In the absence of current Ebay-20% off deals, there are a couple of places doing 20L (4x 5L, and 20L drum respectively) for £54.99 with free shipping ; with the CompleteSavings discount thing I use who knock another 10% off Ebay by way of a refund a couple of weeks later, these would be £49.49 each. When the Pricewins code was operating last week you were getting 10% back of the discounted price so a double win is possible if you look hard enough (ie find an Ebay store that is doing the extra discount code).

Thanks to this thread I got eBay item number: 164765951513 (5L £19.99) and arrived on the 2nd working day from ordering, exactly as described

Any thoughts on Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0W40, 505 compliant £25/5L at Costco?
Best avoided. Go with the latest spec 507.00 which need be no more expensive, and may well (as this thread confirms) be a lot cheaper.

All three of them! Lol
I'm sure people have used a lot worse but I wouldn't be buying it personally.

I agree it is easier to buy just one oil for all your cars, which is what I do but make sure what you buy is of a high enough specification to meet the needs of all your cars and never use anything that is lower?

20 litres of Mannol 7715 507 oil is back down to £43.19 when used with the eBay 20% off code save20

Hope it helps someone, I’ve just bought another for stock, along with some febi drop links and front brake pipes, all 20% cheaper.

Andy

That is unbeatable value for known-good quality oil. I’ve just had to talk myself back from the checkout page - as I have 20 litres of the stuff already!!
