Hi All
When I recently changed my air filter to a K&N one I found a rusty square piece of metal on the undertray. Had no idea what it was or where it had come from. After a bit of poking around it seemed to fit on the end of the air compressor pulley. I was relieved to find that the bolt that secures it had just come off (not sheared but lost) and the unit had not seized (when was the last time you set the CC to 'Lo'?). Just bolted it back on after treating the rust and Hammeriting it and the cabin got cold very quickly. All was well and I . Tried it a few days a go and no cold air, just cool. Removed the undertray to find it had come off again (found another reason to have an undertray!)
So how do I stop it coming off again? I thought I had secured it tight enough - don't want to shear the bolt! I have bought some thread lock - will that be enough or is there some thing else I should be doing?
Check your CC now! Pulley is £140 and a new compressor (complete with pulley) £540!!
Regards
Neil
