Climate Control

Does anyone else's A2 only give warm air out of the side vents when the climate control is set to auto? It gives out cold air when i put the temp cooler.
I can't remember if it has always done this as i've only noticed recently with the cold weather we have been having!!

Cheers

Were is the problem? If it works anyway.

And the climate does not work at less than 4°C temp. out side.

Actually the climate works all the time, the compressor won't kick in unless temp is above 5 degrees, the climate will provide warm air until such time as the cabin reaches the required temprature, hence the cool air started when you dropped the temp.

I just meant that i don't get warm air out of the vents in the middle of the dash and wondered if this was normal!! The amount of trouble with this stupid car i wouldn't be surprised if it was yet another fault!

This is normal. Only if you push manuel air to the middle you get air out there. It is not bad: So no one gets air blown in the face...

Climate ... other problem

I have a different kind of problem with climate.
Sometimes when it heats after couple of minutes somewhere in system
I can hear a hiss sound and it's not blowing any air out of vents.
If I manually speed up ventilator the "hiss" sound is louder and I get
very lousy air flow, like there is a jam.
Told this problem to the dealer, they tested all the electronics,
and everything works fine, no malfunctions.
Any ideas?

Cheers

For your problem: Try to push any of the buttons: Air only to the bottom or only to the windscreen or to the middle.
Souns like one or the air flaps are not working correctly. This problem happens and is verry expencive but there is a way to repair it without pulling out the full dashboward. But not easy.

Tried that as well.
But as I've said this doesn't happen all the time.
If I for example turn temp down to "Lo" and it starts to cool,
after a while (15-20 minutes) air flow will be fine.
Change the temp back up to heating, some minutes pass
and it's back to jam.

Interesting the 5 degree threshold. It hasn't happened so far this winter but in the previous 2 winters there was the odd occasion when the temp. outside dropped to 5 degrees the car would suddenly have condensation over the interior windows. The front ones would almost be running with water. Quite suddenly and quite dangerous, as for a moment one was driving blind.

Overriding Auto and setting the air fall blast onto the windscreen would eventually clear it but one need to keep it on to stop the condensation coming back. Dealer said it might be a stuck flap.
