Clonck clonk noise from front

Give your engine a good shake, wear gloves if it has to be hot. See if you can replicate the noise. Pay attention to the dog bone.

I have done this test. Noise comes from upper engine support. I don’t think it comes from dog bone mount.
I hear noise from this in the picture ( 10 ).

Heres my thoughts- I could do the same rocking with my top engine mount, you can move it because the dogbone mount is really worn and let's it move. I would change the dogbone mount as its only £35 and you can do it yourself fairly easily. If you've done 100k plus then it will likely be beneficial. My atl engine top mount is lmost obsolete and costs about £170 second hand or £300 from audi, the dogmount was £40 and the engine is solid again even though the top mount was rocking before.

I'll second this as the sensible way forwards.

Ok so i will change the lower and see what’s happen with higher. Thanks for suggestion !!

It seems that Febi 31124 can cover all A2 dog bones
for my 1.2TDI i bought Febi 108779 (package had 6Q0199851AR code too), covers mostly 1.4 diesel engines.
If price and availability is same, closer match seems better to buy.
There is probably closer match available for 1.2, but close enough for now...
 
Febi 31124 is for Polo 1.4 with AUA engine so I suppose it is okay also my A2 with AUA.

@paolo_audi Have you already replaced dog bone with Febi 31124? Because I also have AUA engine and will preventively replace it. Through searching over part nr. I also came to the conclusion that for AUA engine Febi 31124 is the way to go, but would really appreciate additional confirmation.

As an FYI, I used a Febi 31124 on my other half's AUA A2 - obviously we unbolted the mount end from the bushing end, and replaced the (very) worn bushing end (apparently the rubber was so perished it was floating pretty well) - the gearbox end is different on the Polo part but obviously you can reuse the one from the original A2 mount. A combination of this and new ARB bushes and drop links sufficed to completely silence the clonks and rattles that had plagued the car since we've had it - big step forward in noise-vibration-harshness with this car.

The difference between this and the ones used for the Tdis (that I've also replaced on both our cars) is that the bushing end casting has a slightly thicker neck in the metal than the petrol-engined one - but both clearly work as suggested by posts above - and secondly I understand the rubber in the bushing may be a tougher grade in the Tdi-specified cars.

Perfect, thank you for the confirmation. I will probably go for alternative Meyle part nr.: 100 199 0119 because I prefer Meyle products athough Febi should be also a quality alternative.

Should be fine - key thing is that unless it is utter junk, a decent quality replacement will always be better than something worn out whichever of the oem-quality substitute manufacturers is used.

Yes I have replaced it with Febi 31124. It is correct ! Unluckily I still have clonk clonk noise as it comes from upper right engine support. I also have to replace it but it costs a lot in Audi and can’t find it from another brand..

Did you try to find a company that renews parts of the undercarriage. Maybe they can renew/replace also the rubber parts on your upper engine support. Usually it is not the OEM quality, but better than shot engine mount.

I’ve never done it but have researched into it. I know there are a number of companies making replacement parts for bushes (polybush etc ) but not so many make new parts such as engine mounts etc in small volumes . There are pourable rubber compounds so it could be possible to refurbish a mount . It’s a project rather than something off the shelf. It’s worth looking at for something that can’t be bought . Salvage the main part and replace the worn part (bush )and fill with rubber . You would have to try and estimate or guess how hard the rubber needed to be to make that choice .
