Hi. Does anyone happen to know the best place to get these please? Looking online appears to show prices from £9.99 to £100. I think I can probably have a go at changing them, but don't want to buy the wrong ones.
Or should i just book him into the garage as I'm not really sure?
Thank you

I have some 1.6 FSI ones available and I believe they are the same for the 1.4 petrols? :) I’m sure someone will comfirm soon:)

If they do work with your 1.4 if you can wait till kimbolton I can bring them along and I can fit them for you as it’s easy enough to do or I can get them posted next day for you :)

Thanks :)

Teresa note that some 1.4 use one coil pack with conventional leads. But as you say “them” I assume you have looked and they are individual coils. My recommendation is to go to euro car parts and buy named brand ones. I have used cheep ones and they don’t last. Bosch ones I fitted to my fsi lasted years and years.

Thank you Mike. I did wonder why there were two types showing online when I looked. I will have a look at them tonight as now I'm not too sure!

Thanks Louis. I'll need to check what I've got based on Mike's reply. It's for Barney and at the moment he sounds and behaves like a law lawnmower that needs servicing so I cant really drive him any distance. I am fairly sure it is coil issue as the symptoms are identical to when a coil went in a previous A2. I will probably be in Mabel at Kimbolton to be honest as I'm not too confident with Barney for long distances yet ?

Hi T. A BBY read after 2002 has multiple individual coils. The prior engine has a single 'pack'.

Ah, thanks James. Yes, I just checked and saw that it was four. One is Bosch so guess it may be that one (bizzarely, I cannot find where to plug my VCDS in, on this car - underneath the steering wheel appears to be a bit of a mess!)

When driving the socket to plug your kit into is above your right ankle, it's purple. I always have to kneel on the ground with driver's door open to see it.

Thank you. Yes it's weird as I have no trouble finding it with my FSI, but can't see it at all with the 1.4 The trim is loose and I think that it may be hiding it. I need to take it somewhere where I can have a proper lay in the footwell with cars or pedestrians needing to get by (I have to park on the street)

I see, from memory the diagnostic socket clips into that trim. Sounds like it has fallen out and dropped behind the trim dangling on its connecting wire. The trim needs fixing back properly with the the diagnostic socket properly in place. I wonder if the fixing points on the trim are broken.

I suspect so. The fixing points on the boot trim are dodgy too - the first time I tried to close the boot, the handle area came off in my hand ?
