Hi there
New to this forum , I have Audi a2 and the keys won’t work ie open the doors remotely. I have had the keys tested and coded but it seems like the ccu is at fault is there anyone in the north Devon area that can repair them .Can’t seem to find a second hand one around part no 8z0 959433 E . I have seen posts on here where people have had it done many thanks

I have an AF CCCU here which is the preferred replacement as its more reliable. With yours being an E variant i'm assuming that you ahve electric rear windows?

Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply ,yes I do is the AF a better option that will work
Regards
Paul

The AF is a much more reliable unit, but if you have electric rear windows that code will need to be switched on in the CCCU using vcds.

CCCUs are not plug-n-play; they need to be correctly configured for the recipient vehicle. I'm able to offer a CCCU replacement service by post, where the CCCU is pre-programmed for the specific car.

The AF-type CCCU that's being offered by @A2Steve can be programmed for all A2s. If it was to journey via my workshop, it can be made plug-and-play for @paulchelle's A2.

For anyone else reading this, either now or in the future, I also keep stocks of CCCUs. However, in this case, Steve has offered to supply the part, so I'm simply offering my programming service.

Cheers,

Tom

How does this work in relation to key fobs?

Tom I hate to think I’ve been offering the wrong advice all these years. I thought that if you had an AF CCCU car from a car with front electric windows (only) and fitted it to a car with front electric windows (only) using the fob button from the donar car that it would be plug and play? I haven’t had any issues doing so in the past!

I believe this is the case from my limited experience with changing these, as I had to make programming changes to mine as it was a rear electric one. And the others I’ve done have been plug and play apart from programming the fobs.

If you can find one, AE's are pre-programmed for rear electric windows, but are otherwise identical to AF.

Hi
I have already purchased a AF unit from eBay how much would it be to have it programmed by your self
Thanks

Hardly a day goes by when someone hasn't got an electrical fault with their A2.....

hey Audi - why did you put the important electrics in the lowest point of the car!!! condensation anyone!!

Remember these are 15-20 year old cars, many of which have been badly looked after for whatever reason. No when you think about it Audi were very clever fitting the "black boxes" into the passenger compartment in a sealed area. Compare this to many other cars and you find them in the engine bay. The issue is when muppets jack the car incorrectly and damage or puncture the floor, lack of maintenance on the scuttle / heater allowing water into the heater, poor door alignment after repairs or a bodged windscreen replacement.
Just to add I have an AE CCCU in my car. If you are unsure and want to go it alone then swap the CCCU like for like then rematch your key fobs.
Tom does a fantastic service to use the AF CCCU and can do all the work for you if that is what you prefer.

Can’t echo this enough. Compare this to one of its contemporaries and you’ll either it in the scrapyard or literally nothing working. That said, with the ‘human knowledge resource’ we enjoy on this forum, it does simplify matters greatly

I drove a Mercedes 190 until recently - so I set myself a high bar!

I think the A2 is a good car and yes, far better than most of it's contemporaries.

The A2 is, electrically, really quite a reliable car. The reason you hear about electrical faults all the time is simply due to the CCCUs in early A2s having a manufacturing fault ...which was caused by Motorola, not Audi. Condensation is never the cause of the problems. Placing all the important electrical stuff in the interior secret compartments is a great idea, as it keeps it all dry ...as long as ignorant garages don't puncture the floor with careless jacking.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom, I get it now about the underfloor storage. I do have an earlier car so maybe I'll be swapping out the CCCU at some point....taking note of the additional work that needs doing. Cheers
