Visions of reversing over selfIf you've got a duff sensor, you should be able to tell which it is. With the ignition on, put it in reverse and put your ear to each one in turn. You should hear a regular, fairly sharp clicking noise. If you get one (or more) that's silent or with an irregular or weak click, that's probably the culprit.
Makes sense. I think I was getting the loud high pitched version and the lower pitch quieter now after replacing one sensor. I will try and put car into reverse and then wait a few seconds to see if it changes. ThanksSadly, the CCCU needs to be able to detect the presence of all 4 sensors and that they're all working properly.
If not, you'll get a long (a few seconds IIRC, but not continuous) warning tone when you select reverse. This is a different pitch and quieter than the continuous tone you'd get, if all the sensors were detected as working but one of them was giving a false positive for close proximity.
I've seen full-fat VCDS used to scan for error codes to indicate which sensor(s) report a fault. I'd imagine it can also show if any of them is giving a false positive. I don't know if VCDS Lite (licensed or not) is able to do that.
Might as well be off as it is annoyingI removed the fuse until I can get mine fixed
