Coolant for diesel engines - Is "G12evo" the correct / current one to use?

I've noticed Audrey's coolant is a little low so I'd like to top up - searching the net reveals that "G12evo" (part number G12E050A2) appears to have replaced G13. (part number G013A8JM1).

Before I purchase, can I just double confirm if anyone knows this to be correct?

Not sure you meant to upload that picture. Simply red coolant will work, know as OAT, also g13 etc are backwards compatible with g12

VW state

G12EVO can be mixed with its predecessor products like the G12 Plus Plus, G12 +, G11

Thanks Ed - Do you have a link to hand for the sake of completeness / reassurance?

Smashing - thank you!

@Darren C / @2work - As this is pertinent / updated additional info for A2 servicing you may wish to put this somewhere prominent as a sticky?

They also state this -

G12evo part number G 12E100M2 coolant concentrate 1.5L must only be used if suggested by ETKA using the vehicle VIN number

Don't think the on-line parts catalogues will be up to date so has anyone checked with their dealer if it's OK for our A2s

Cheers Spike

It’s referring to cars that can only use g12evo and not previous coolants, all VAG coolants have been backwards compatible

My take on the Audi quote is that some engine cooling systems may not be compatible with the new G12 evo. If, and only if they are, the G12 evo can be mixed with previous coolants according to the chart in the service topic in post 6.

Here's an extract from the link I posted

The big question is whether the verification work has been done on the A2

Well what Ed shared gives me enough confidence to use G12evo for topping up so that’s the route I’m going down. Thanks all

If I was you I’d save some money and just use OAT it’s exactly the same in reality.

I bought this toghether with a bunch of other parts, so the shipping was free ;). I always plan ahead my maintenance shedule, thus buying in bulk with price discounts :).
I bought two of these and with a 40/60 mix with distilled water it will be more than enough for my car. According to my info, my car needs 5.6l. I plan to replace it as much as possible together with timing belt and water pump service.
