hi there just after some help. i have a 01 1.4 and i keep getting the engine managment light keep coming on. I have tested by the rac who say its the vehicle speed sensor, and this is the problem, some people at audi say it might be the sensors on the front wheels, but some have said it wont be them it would more likley be the crank sensor because the Engine light comes on not the abs one, and that it does it when i start the car up not when its moving. so i would just like to know if anyones had the same problem, and also where is the crank sensor located.
thanks for any help

Hi Mark, welcome to the A2oc
I don't have any experience of this problem but the engine speed sensor should be located on the air intake side of the engine at the gearbox end of the cylinder block.
I'm sure it will be similar to the diesel engine so if this sensor fails, the engine stops. Unlike most of the other engine sensors, there is no 'limp home' mode to keep the engine running at reduced power.

Cheers Spike
