creaking from front end

hi,

i have just started getting a creaking and bangs sometimes when i go over speed bumps (i have check the springs and they are in one piece)from the front of my A2 tdi, i think its the strut tops, is this a difficult and expensive job? or any other ideas.

Check the roll bar bushes and for any signs the roll bar is moving sideways and catching on the subframe before changing the strut bearings.

Had the same problem. Turned out to be just as Spike said. Just placed the roll bar in place, cut a washer with the roll bar diameter in half and welded half a washer to each side. That way the roll bar cannot move all the way and hit the subframe.
