I may have caused some confusion. I'm working on a 90 for a member. The car that's going to be a colourstorm is a 2002 75.

More progress being made tonight with the strip down ?

Made a start on the mechanical side of things today.

I’ve got no service history for the TDI but I was very pleased to find that despite 190k on the clock the TDI has been very well looked after. It was last owned by a drifting race team as a pool car and they seem to have really looked after it.

I found new cast wishbones on both sides, new brake pipes at the front, new droplinks and track rod ends along with some nearly new monroe shocks.

Now as if changing a blue car to a yellow storm isn’t enough, I also plan to give it a bit of extra ground clearance and some imitation skid plates as I’ve done with my ‘Dune’ projects.

So today I fitted new KYB front and rear springs for the Fabia 1.9 D estate. This has given about an extra 50mm of ground clearance all round.

Now that it’s sitting as I want it, I’ll now make a start on swapping the body panels over.

Bit more done tonight. The TDI has rear electric windows so unfortunately it’s not just a case of simply swapping the doors over. They have required a complete strip down of all the internals and this was then transferred into the yellow door skin so that the rear electric windows were retained.
