Cruise control question

Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of installing cruise control in little Uma, I've put the stalk in and thanks to @Cronus7 I have the diagram of where to put the wires in the white socket. However, I'm left puzzled by the other wire, most on here say to plug it into the brake light switch, however, the brief instructions that came with the loom say to plug it into the clutch switch (which I didn't know was a thing until today)? Said wire is black and blue and has a 2 pin connector on the end, so, what do I do with it?
Thanks,

Adam

This is the plug mentioned.

So, I've had a look at the paperwork, and all it says is to "connect the black/blue cable with the 2 pole plug of the clutch pedal switch" can someone please tell me where exactly this is?
Thanks

That is correct the lead piggy backs the existing lead connected to the CLUTCH pedal. With the "drivers storage panel" dropped , look up at the clutch pedal and follow it to below the steering wheel. you will eventually see the connector on the clutch pedal. connect the original plug into the the connector on the new lead and that connector onto the clutch switch. Below picture is the top of the clutch pedal and the switch is in the circle with the connector on top. Wear gloves lots of sharp edges in there.

In your picture the existing wiring to the clutch fits into the left socket and the plug on the right connects back onto the clutch switch.

Thank you very much, that's a huge help, just one more question, I can see that the air vent in that picture has been removed, how do you remove it?
Thanks again

That is not actually one of my pictures. IIRC towards the center of the car end of the duct is a screw - not sure what head, just remove that and the duct pull out.

This is on my list to do! Where did you find the diagram. Was it just a quick search on the forum?

One other thing. I was planning to wire the cruise into the white connector in the passenger footwell. Took everything apart only to find no white connector! Instead I directly wired into the correct pins in the ECU. When I looked at the correct ECU plug every pin location was full. Turns out on my car anyway that Audi populate all pin locations to give a better connection. The unused connections only contain blank unused pins that are carefully removed and the cruise pins replaced into the correct locations. Once complete you have to activate the controller using VCDS.

Yes, I have heard this, it's strange, the pins on my ECU looked empty when I ran the wire through to the ECU. I still have yet to plug all the wires in, but this will be done shortly. As for the activation, I'm aware it has to be activated but I don't have access to the software, so I will have to ask someone based closer to me to activate it for me after the wiring is complete.
Thanks again

The wire to the clutch switch is there to obtain 12v ignition love nothing else
I don’t do this instead I piggy back of the red 10amp fuse near the ecu
The ecu plugs are populated with a connector in every in location some have wires attached others don’t
You can use the spare connector to solder the wire too then slide it with wire back into its location in the ecu socket
I never use the white connector even if present as it means making two different types of cc loom
The ecu needs login into to activate cc
I have the code for the tdi if you need it. The £5 vagcom or vcds is all you need

Cheers. Paul

Thanks Paul, I bought an OEM loom from Germany, this means the lengths are perfect, so it's not long enough to pick up ignition live from the passenger footwell. However, I agree about the white connector, I didn't have one as far as I saw, so it went straight to the ECU.
