CV boot clamp keep falling off

Hi guys, last year before MOT, I had to use an universal cv boot fitted with hose clips.
I know it's not ideal, especially the hose clip is thicker than normal cv boot clips, but the space was just enough for the hose clip to spin around, without touching anything. It was all good, passed the last and this year's inspections too.

For this year's MOT though, they had to change the front suspension arm, due the dust cover was split.
After driving back, I heard something kept knocking and upon checking, I saw the hose clip came off.
After many tries, the hose clips kept coming off, no matter what, so I'd fitted zip ties temporarily, but that came off right away too.
So I'd ordered cv boot clips, fitted them, but in less than a day, all of them came off too :(At the moment nothing stay on the wider side. I'd even filed down the bolt, as it was sticking out 1/2", took hours to get it done, now the bolt is leveled with the top surface of the nut, (see pic), but it'd changed nothing unfortunately.

On the opposite side it's the original cv boot, also fitted with hose clips, and that's absolutely fine.
Any idea what to check? This issue started, right after the garage had changed the suspension arm, 1.5 year before that, the hose clip sat nicely on the universal cv boot and never came off. Now even the slimmest clip won't stay on. Perhaps the space, marked with red circle, had gotten smaller due improper fitment? I've been trying for couple of months now, so I can't just take it back to the garage, they also had damaged the wheels and caps, so I don't really want to use them again. Thanks.

The best cv boots I have ever used but sadly they now seem obsolete were made by mecatech and the original "classic clip" which double wrapped for a remarkably secure clamp. Never ever seen one split, they are super stretchy too. If anybody can find them please let me know!

The closest I have come is the SKF ones from amazon, they are supple but have not got round to fitting mine yet. I always avoid the hard plastic as securing can be a big problem

Yes that'd be great, but right now my budget isn't enough for that.
So at the moment I'd like to know, how did that gap on the pic might've shrunk, only after changing the suspension arm. Cheers

If the garage caused it get them to fix it.

There is a chance when they worked on the car that the boot was pushed up the drive shaft, thus leaving the boot stretched when fitted to the wheel end. As the car is driven and the shaft flexes there is not enough give so it pulls off the outer end.

Universal is far from it in reality. Even Audi fit different boots to different engine types on the A2. Part is also used on VW, Seat and Skoda cars..

That's very possible, unfortunately it was months ago so I can't take it back without paying again, also I got a feeling they'd do even more damage than before.
I'm gonna look into other garages for sure, thanks.

Solved!
Just in case anyone comes across this thread, here's what happened. When the garage had changed the suspension arm, for some reasons, the clearance for the clip has been shrunk by a small amount. See picture above with red circle.
So anything too high, like hose clip and even some cv boot clips after locking, got knocked off constantly.
So I got a new cv boot, fitted it and folded the clip as tight as possible, knocking my hand a few times in the process, without much locking needed, so the lock's stayed as flat as possible.
After some driving around, this one finally has stayed on  Finally looks like it's been sorted, now on to the alarm issues. Cheers

Sweet fix!

What boot did you fit is it flexi one or did you knock off the joint?
Flexi one but I've spent time on it, so it's a really smooth fix, I'm rather proud of it lol. Cheers
I am probably going to get told off but in lack of proper tools and patience, I used jubilee clips.
I'd the same before on both lol, but after the suspension arm change, the clearance wasn't enough anymore, the n/s side still hold great though lol, but at least I know, what to do if that needs changing too lol. Cheers
