Cycle carrier

Done a search but only came up with dead links.
Now the summer's here :D and I need to start my diet and fitness regime  , does anyone use a cycle carrier on their A2. A mate has borrowed mine so cannot try it as yet, but I'm thinking the rear spoiler could be in the way.
Don't want to go to the expense of a roof one, and fancy taking the bikes out but my wife 'does'nt do roads' :p

Inside better than out!

Hi.

I'm a dead keen mountain biker and several times a week travel with bikes in the car. Back seats folded, the A2 will take 2 downhill bikes easily with the wheels off. Saddle and bar on the floor, push the bikes near to the front and wedge things in with the wheels. Easy.

Hope this helps.

Personally I wouldnt use a conventional Hatchback/rear window type carrier on a A2 ,due to the risk of shattering the glass.
I have seen the following item on ebay though,Its listed to fit the A2 but dont know how it mounts.
Its a bit pricey(£159) but is made of aluminium just like our A2's.

Just noticed it fits to the Towbar if you have one,so possible no good?

There might be another way....... watch this space I am currently developing a rear mounted cycle rack, I think I have a cunning plan to get round the rear window problem

These rear mounted racks are now illegal in Europe (not the UK YET, they are still legal here) due to the amount of bikes falling off and causing accidents...

And even so, you cannot ever use one on the A2 as the top lip of the hatch is pure glass. On top is the only way hence me having the Thule system.

Illegal in europe? any chance you could share your source for that ground breaking news, my understanding of european requirements is that manufacturers have to provide a "no fit list" which is the same as UK regs, the only UK brands that do this are Bike Caddy (same as french brand Mottez) and Halfords.
