Dealer Activated Electronic Goodness...

Hi all,

Just a quick question - what can be activated by the VAG-COM thingummy? I went back to the dealer today to ask about getting the automatic locking activated, and as I bought the car from them recently, he said if I turned up at the start of play one morning, he'd get it done FOC. I was wondering what other goodies are hidden in that alimunium brain?? ;)

I know about the anti-hijack speed-sensitive automatic locking, and I know it can be set to open only the driver's door on the first plip (which is an ar$e in practice). I'm presuming that daytime running lights is in there, along with making the alarm beep on arm/disarm. What else? :rolleyes:

I'd be interested in finding what items can be activated by vag com also.. Would give me an excuse to dig out my laptop and lead :p
 
They refused to set mine to the Scandanavian option - the daytime running lights... Feable excuse of wear on the bulbs! I switch the lights on anyway I said but they still refused... To this day I don't really know why...
 
I tried to find more information using Google last night, but after reading through a load of reports of car-jackings in the UK, I went down to Audi this morning and got the auto-lock function put on.

Unfortunately, sitting with a coffee, Audi Driver magazine and surrounded by £50k A8's obviously went entirely to my head and I forgot to ask the service chappies what else could be activated... :oops:

Now happy as a happy thing in pleasantville, with the doors locked. :D
 
Scandinavian type lights and auto-lock doors would appeal to me, I do both manually every trip anyway!
 
Handily the beep on arm does not beep on disarm. Its a really nice subtle little blip as well. handy to confirm locking but not needed on unlocking. and not at all too loud for late at night
My previous car alarm did a riduculous 2 really loud beeps on un locking and locking which always made me cringe
I'm not aware of any other things you can change. Skipton may know more
 
Are these available on all a2 models. I have a 51 plate, 1.4 TDi SE, or is it only the newer models you can do it on ?

Check out the 'ross-tech' link in the 'VagCom help reqired' thread and scroll down to 46 - Central Convenience Module. I guess most of the listed options will be available on the A2
