Well that's it, my better half has made the decision to go for the A2 and I am pleased, there is something very pleasant about the A2 cabin when you get in that makes you feel very at home - it feels right.

We did test drive the new Polo, but as you all told us, there is no real comparison - and both VW demonstrators we drove had very annoying rattles, not good when they are the mobile showroom.

Another thing very refreshing with the A2 is the quality of service we have received from the dealership to date - very patient, so non-pushy salesman and he remembered our names from the very first time - something that shouldn't be taken for granted nowadays, very nice dealership - and I am fussy and hard to please.

Let's hope everything else goes as well - delivery November, the third rear belt and bench make it a factory order, still not so far off - Dolphin Grey 1.4 SE with climate and winter pack by the way

Roll on Novemeber and thanks for the very positive contribution made by all on the forum who chipped in with real world advice.

SJ-May I be the first to congratulate you!. Name your dealer-I still think we should have a seperate forum area for good/bad dealers to be named.....

Wise choice I hope you'll find.

And now your a member of the A2 world-look out for those special extra Tesco discounts.......:D

My turn tomorrow (saturday).

i'm test driving the 1.6 FSI SE having driven the Mercedes A160 Avantagarde on Wednesday.

should be an interesting comparison.

i'm sold already - Merc appears so dated already.

need to convince my wife - and child.....

Steve !
Congratulations with ordering your New A2 !
I'm also expecting delivery of mine in early November.
Seems a long time to wait though :)

Regarding the dealer, good point no point finding a pleasant relaxing place to do a deal and keeping it to yourself is there.

Centurion Audi in York.

We have visited many dealerships for all manner of marques during the course of convincing ourselves the Audi was the way to go (interestingly A2 was the first we looked at, so could have saved loads of time), but the quality of interest / service varies massively and that is when they are trying to get your money - what chance when they have it.

My main car is a 3 series (I know this is an Audi site!!) and Malton BMW are likewise a smashing dealership where customers are all important and they always go the extra yard to make things easy for you - long live customer service.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum and to the A2 experience. Enjoy. By the way, do you shop at TESCOs?

Mike,

How was your test drive? Let us know. Did the A2 win?

Kaine

Kaine,

test drive was great - dealership wasn't.
they kept me waiting for 40mins because the salesman was busy with another customer. this despite having plenty of other salesman "busy" with bits of paper.
the FSI really does go very fast and the sound is amazing for a car of this type.
as we overran so much we didn't have time to negotiate on price.
he rang me at 6 to offer me the FSI in the show-room at list price.........
not impressed, could do better.
i'll be calling some other Audi dealers to see if they are more accomodating.

Hi Mike,

Maybe Saturday was a bad day? Try going back mid week. It seems that many AUDI dealers fail the customer satisfaction stacks, however believe me the A2 is worth it.

I haven't driven the FSI myself, however your comments (except price) sound promising.

Kaine

I agree with Kaine-stick at it-could have just been a bad day. Who's to say that once the Merc dealer has your money he won't be bad?.

Take the A2-you know you want to!.

Mike, sorry to hear it didn't go too well. Executive are just around the corner from my house and the sales side have always seemed OK to me. I wouldn't recommend them for servicing however (don't ask !)

In case it helps, whilst shopping for an A2 last week, I saw that Docklands Audi have a pre-registered FSI SE + Met + CC for £12,995 which looks pretty cheap. Registered as a demonstrator but very low mileage I believe.

Shiner

thanks for the pointer on the Docklands Audi FSI - it certainly gives me an idea of what price i can expect to pay and helps with negotiations.

i'll be persuing this tomorrow.

cheers

Blimey - there are some great deals out there on nearly new A2's - I obviously paid too much, althought I looked around at the time and thought I was getting a good deal.

I agree on the dealership points made earlier - I visit Parkland Audi in Gloucester, and have always found the sales and service guys very helpful and polite; however a friend of mine had exactly the opposite view after trying to test drive an A3 recently - he got the impression it was all too much trouble for the salesman concerned, so in the end he bought a Golf as they treated him better.

Try a different salesman - but ring up first to make an appointment; that way they know you're not a time waster!
