Demist or not as the case may be....

Hi. Where abouts is the cabin filter located? I need to do a full service and intend on replacing this. thanks Stuart
 
Underneath the glovebox in the passenger footwell. There's a replacement guide on the forum somewhere if you do a search...
 
Thanks. I have just had a look and found the compartment under the glovebox. Reasonably easy to get out aswell. Just got to wait for the parts to turn up from Stoke Audi.
 
OK, so what do people find the best button combination of air con unit, to use for effective demist of front window now the weather is chilly.
 
The demist function at top left of the climate panel is supposed to point the flaps at the screen and put the fan up to an appropriate level according to the temperature of the air coming through, so in theory there's nothing else to do except wait for the screen to clear. On my Webasto-equipped TDI with no air-con/flap issues, that is indeed all I need. My Storm, as with all later TDIs, has the electric element. On the one cold morning I used it on, it was rather disappointing, it took ages to clear the screen fully, even after it became clear enough to drive and the engine warmed up.
 
Worth also repeating that on the proviso that the air temperature is permissive, a recent regas of the air/con circuit does make a considerable improvement on the demisting capability of the system. I also have a large silica bag that I sit on the dashboard in front of the grab handle that is returned to the airing cupboard for 48h every few days, and this seems to help with reducing the misting up caused after the car has been warmed and then cooled by direct sunlight especially if there has been rain on the ground in days previous.
