Dension Icelink Plus + Brodit + Symphony II

Hi,

After receiving a 5G iPod as a gift - I ordered the Dension kit and a Brodit Proclip. Installation is mostly a breeze. Will probably turn this into a fitting guide at some point, see attached images for info.

Only 3 issues:

1) The Symphony II (not sure if this is the same on the Chorus) doesn't have a neat ground point on the back (and the Icelink Plus requires one). I fashioned one and attached through one of the rear case screws.

2) The Brodit ProClip was a little tight at the base when fitted with the Symphony II unit. I image it would be a neater fit with the single head unit - where the A/C unit doesn't have the rounded bottom edge. I will probably just perform some selective filing of the bracket at some point.

3) The 5G video iPod isn't supposed to fit in the standard Dension mount - but it seems fine in there right now. Dension will release a proper spacer in due course.

A reasonable integration - although the Dension steering wheel control isn't as slick as they would make out - there are short pauses between pressing a button and something registering on the iPod. Anyone else notice this?

My bracket is slightly different in that it mounts in a similar fashion but a little higher up, between the single DIN HU and AC unit on mine. its also a little tight but then the gaps are very tight, especially on my car (Mike AKA skipton had never seen a car with such tight gaps in all of the dash panels when he did my CC, on the plus side I've got no squeaks)
I guess the pause is subjective but on my 4G colour Ipod its not really very noticeable, I tend to now use the classic Ipod interface which means the Ipod click wheel and normal interface stay functioning, but the HU does give control over skipping etc, This stops the track time display functioning on your stereo and it will just loop in a random time, which I don't find a problem with)

Feel free to include my postings on the dension and pictures in your fitting guide

I used a mount from www.dashmount.co.uk for mine.

P.S. I didn't have any star bits at the time when I fitted mine, so couldn't unscrew any of the case screws. my earth is wedged under the radio aerial. Must get round to sorting that but doesn't seem to be causing problems. The outer part of the aerial point is grounded to the radio chassis anyway and it was a handy place to shove it.
