Dipstick

Many moons ago in the days of the infamous JD I remember a post about reading oil levels and the failure of Audi to explain how it could be done.

The following is a quote from the Audi Magazine of summer 2004!

"There's no minimum or maximum mark on the A3's dipstick, just a cross hatched section within which the oil level should be kept. The oil level warning light will warn when the level is at its safe minimum, but its sensible to keep the engine topped up above this level. -Ed"

It looks like the A2 is the same.

I remember reading a review about how much oil it consumes and how awkward it is to get to the dipstick.

Still, I'm sure it's worth it for the driving experience!

Feel free to email me a pic and I'll post it on here.

Probably in CAR magazine as Tom Ford has one on long term test and seems to like it.

Managed to get my pic in the special feature along with other RX8 Owners Club guys!

I'm the guy in front of his red one.

Cheers

My Granddad used to have an Ro80 that drank nearly as much oil as it did fuel in the beginning... great car, though. A lot of similarities to the A2, also came from Neckarsulm and also was ahead of its time....

Bye, Frido.

Off-topic I know, but since we're talking about NSUs...(the Ro80)...

My brother used to own two NSU Prinz 1200TTs, also built in what was the NSU factory at Neckarsulm. Great little cars, conventional engine, air-cooled 1177cc, rear-mounted. Only two doors, and to fill up the petrol tank you had to open the boot (at the front of the car). Strange looks at service stations, as people thought you were pouring petrol straight into the engine! And the 1200TT provided Audi's inspiration for the modern car of that name - right down to the style of the instrumentation!

Getting the A2 brought back memories too - the battery in the TT was also in the back of the car, in an equally inaccessible location under the back seat!
