DIS screen fading during a long drive

Guys
Anyone else out there with a DIS display noticed this happening on theirs and can offer some advice?
I noticed today that after 45mins of driving or so with the radio on, the top few lines of pixels in the radio channel display area of the DIS were starting to lose brightness. My journey lasted 1hr 20mins and it was noticeably more dim by the time I'd reached my destination. After that the car was parked up for a bit, and then when I got back in, that part of the display was back to its usual brightness again.
However, on the return journey (back down the M40!), the same phenomenon could be observed.

So two questions
- is my DIS display screen dying?
- if so, can it be repaired/ replaced?

This will be increasingly annoying I'm sure for when I get my RNS-E installed and direction information is also displayed in the DIS.

As you may well be aware, that is exactly the same problem as I am experiencing with my DIS. One firm, "Cartronics", washed their hands of it and said it was not repairable. The other firm "Cluster Repairs UK" couldn't have been more "high-profile" and claimed that they were the very best! The charged £60 to put right the "Damage" that they claimed had been inflicted by "Cartronics" and returned it just as it always had been since it was sold to myself. I still can't get anything positive from "Cluster Repairs UK" Where did you get your DIS from? Is it returnable as faulty? I gather that these screens either work or they don't. That is what is frustrating about my DIS ... it just needs to be a lot brighter! The equivalent of "putting a new bulb in it" LOL!

Hi Dan, This does look like your DIS display if failing. A while back I did see someone on Fleabay selling replacement displays, I haven't looked into exactly what is involved in the repair/replacement process.

I haven't got a DIS based Instrument Cluster to see what is involved, but very interested :)

As Cluster Repairs UK is listed as a 'specialist' on the Honest John web site, I'd be tempted to complain to him. Hopefully he will either mediate on your behalf or if that fails, remove them from his web site

It is virtually impossible to change the display yourself .... and that will be verified by "craigyb". As I said, I think that these displays either work or they don't .... I may be wrong. However, because we seem to be suffering the same problem, then keep me informed if you are first to find the solution!

David I did wonder if this was similar symptoms to your own. I bought mine 2nd hand from a breaker's over a year ago so I doubt it'll be warranty replaceable anymore! I'll check out these cluster screen repair chaps though as I have seen them advertised and also on ebay.
