Disable alarm??

hi all,

Hope you're all well...

Alarm on my new 1.4 tdi keeps going off! Is there anyway to temporarily disable until I can get it seen to?

Many thanks

Pete

There’s a multi plug connects it to the cars loom in the boot rear drivers side but you will need to remove the trim panel which is a job in itself

Thanks, any assistance much appreciated as in a bit of a panic.. off camping in the lakes tomorrow (not in A2) but can't leave it with alarm going off!!

Cheers

Pete

Might be quicker to disconnect the battery then

Just ensure that the tail gate emergency unlock from inside works before you disconnect the battery

I have vcds (though never used it - don't even know where the socket is...) does that help any?

Brand new to a2 - only picked it up last weekend- Where's the internal boot release and is it as simple as disconnecting the battery?

Thanks again...

The emergency unlock is in the rear tail gate inside trim panel at the top drivers side. Lever it out and pull it to ensure it unlocks the boot lid

Battery is under the false floor in the boot or under the carpet flap if you have no false floor

Vcds would be worth using to scan the car. Module 46. Cccu It’s most likely the Q mode. Last letter of part number that is failing. Alarm problems are a common symptom of a failing cccu
Connector OBD2 connector is near the throttle pedal on the plastic trim panel

Cheers. Paul

It will not go off for long on it’s internal battery. They are near 20 years old so hold little charge

Make sure the service flap is properly closed as this often is the reason for false alarms. What sequence of flashes are you getting from the drivers door led when you lock / arm the car? If none and the indicators do not flash then something is not detected as closed. Any thing showing open on the DIS?

Thanks guys,

Think I've got vcds on the go now!

This is what I'm seeing:

Thanks also Audifan :)

Could well be service flap! I didn't realise that had an alarm contact.... Rob, who I just bought it from, did say that the alarm had suddenly started going off and thought it might be connected to having the bonnet off in the last few days....

Not sure on sequence of flashes etc but just going to try that now...

just cleared codes and immediately got this...

So, with front flap closed, I get single hazard flash and the door LED flashes 3 - 4 times, followed by steady for 40 - 50 sec or so, then settles to a flash every couple of seconds.

With flap open, same as above but no hazard flash.

There's nothing showing up on the DIS for the flap - should there be?

Thanks again

Pete

VCDS seems to report the flap closed when it is, and open when it is.

Is there a sensor on the bonnet itself?

There is a sensor on the flap (presume on the latch not the flap itself) but DIS will not report it.

no dis done not monitor the serviceflap open close status, but the alarm does. however it is working correctly as no hazard flash with service flap open

I fear a failing CCCU is your problem
